The Project Manager, Global Engineering is responsible for the management of major capital technical & improvement projects, or contributing to them, developing concepts, planning, being responsible for coordination and safe execution of projects with all engineering phases, including planning, budgeting, construction, commissioning, training, and handover to manufacturing. This includes technical support, project scoping, project estimating, the implementation, commissioning, and start-up of large capital projects across the globe.

Your role will be:

  • Designing and implementation of large capital projects as identified and assigned, within budget and on time, delivering targeted return on investment and in compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
  • Supervising and execution of large capital projects, establishing, and meeting budget, scheduling, and supervising project activity, training personnel, supervising commissioning, and start-up, and coordinating with all functions as needed.
  • Reviewing and recommend appropriate equipment and systems for new projects and existing installations to ensure that they comply with known safety best practices, applicable codes and standards.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of current and emerging equipment technologies and make recommendations on their application to improve profitability of operations worldwide.
  • Ongoing project control and responsibility for adherence to costs, schedule, quality, and safety.
  • Establishment and management of interdisciplinary teams (internal and external) including the coordination of interfaces to other departments, third party engineering, construction management, and contractors.
  • Providing engineering and technical expertise as requested to enable the optimum project execution in production facilities globally. This includes engineering studies, systems and equipment specifications, selection, design, testing, troubleshooting and optimization, due diligence studies, consulting on safety, regulatory, risk management, maintenance, and utilities.
  • Assessment of proposed capital projects as requested to ensure optimum technology selection, complete scope inclusion, systems and equipment are properly sized, adequate budget cost estimate is provided, the proposed schedule is adequate for the scope of work and alignment with business goals.
  • Providing the technical and procurement support required for the negotiations of national and international contracts for selected manufacturing supplies and equipment, capital purchases, engineering services, and construction services that will ensure cost effectiveness to all locations served by the contracts.

Your profile needs these qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical) with significant experience project engineering, while demonstrating successful implementation of solutions, including effective project management of large-scale projects over $15MM and experience directing outside consultants and assisting with the management and supervision of junior engineers.
  • Knowledge of engineering and unit operations relevant to the Wet Milling industry, such as basic chemistry, heat and material balances, P&ID development, mechanical/physical and chemical separations, evaporation, crystallization, drying, material handling, CGMP, and energy management.
  • Travel may constitute 25 to 75 percent of the time on the job and may consist of consecutive weeks in any of the Company facilities worldwide.
  • Fluency in English required. A working knowledge of a Latin or Asian language would be a plus.

  • Ability to work effectively with people from different cultures to accomplish business objectives. Proven ability to lead and facilitate in a team environment and build consensus in a positive manner with team members and customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills suited to task force and consulting assignments and to directing or influencing others (both inside and outside the direct chain of command) with the ability to interface effectively with team members, management, customers, and vendors.
