Project Manager
SMS group Inc. seeks Project Manager to work in Pittsburgh, PA. The Project Manager Electrical and Automation coordinates and manages automation projects associated with Electric Arc Furnaces, Ladle Metallurgical Furnaces, Vacuum Tank Degassers, Continuous Casters, Hot and Cold Rolling Mills, Metallurgy and Processing Lines equipment. Specific job duties include: Responsible for reporting and accountability of schedule, budget, project performance, and quality. Manages and participates in project planning, estimating, scheduling, reporting, staffing, procurement, and execution. Develops and supports the design of automation solutions for modernization and new installation of control systems for the above-mentioned processes. Create technical documentation including engineering drawings, motor lists, functional descriptions, and user manuals. Provide assistance to the Sales department for development of customer Technical Proposals and specifications pertinent to the target application. Interface, communicate and manage relationships with local and global SMS project teams (project managers, engineers, support personnel), internal experts as well as customers and suppliers to provide engineering solutions to technical issues and project-related matters. Provide technical support for development, implementation and commissioning of PLC and PC based automation control systems that include motion control, advanced sensors, VFD drives, and actuators. Coordinating and harmonizing the technical subject matter of a contract including technical support and sales discussions at customer sites..
Must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field, AND at least Five (5) years’ experience in an engineering role in metals or a similar industry. Previous work experience must have included experience with: Experience in electrical and automation practices; Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs); and Experience applying engineering principles to the solution of design problems. Up to 20% of Domestic and International travel required, Clients: Big River Steel LLC in Osceola/AR, Hybar LLC in Osceola/AR and Steel Dynamics Inc. in Sinton/TX
