About the role

We need you to join our EC&I Project Management team, supporting the delivery of complex, multi‑disciplinary engineering projects that are fundamental to the development of the UK’s next generation nuclear technology.

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of defined EC&I work packages or projects, working closely with EC&I engineering design teams, Procurement & Supply Chain, and wider Programme Management colleagues to deliver work to time, cost and quality.

This role is ideal for a Project Manager who enjoys working at the interface between engineering design and delivery, and who brings a strong understanding of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation systems within complex engineering environments.

What you’ll be doing

We need you to:

  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of EC&I projects or work packages

  • Work closely with EC&I engineers to understand technical scope, design maturity and delivery risks

  • Manage schedules, budgets, risks and change, supported by planners and cost engineers

  • Maintain accurate financial forecasts and delivery plans

  • Collaborate across Engineering, Programme Management and Procurement to resolve issues and unblock delivery

  • Provide clear updates on progress, risks and mitigations to the Senior Project Manager

  • Create a positive, inclusive and collaborative project environment

  • Capture lessons learned and help improve ways of working across the programme

What we need you to bring

We’re not looking for a “perfect” candidate. If you feel you meet around 75% of the requirements, we’d really like to hear from you.

We need you to bring:

  • Proven experience managing complex engineering projects, ideally multi‑year and multi‑£m

  • A solid understanding of EC&I systems and how Electrical, Control & Instrumentation integrates into wider engineering delivery

  • Experience developing and managing project plans, schedules and budgets

  • Confidence working in highly regulated or safety‑critical environments (nuclear experience is beneficial but not essential)

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to navigate difficult conversations and competing priorities

Your EC&I knowledge and experience

This role places particular emphasis on EC&I understanding, so we’re keen to hear about experience such as:

  • Working alongside EC&I design engineers to translate technical scope into deliverable plans

  • Managing projects involving control systems, instrumentation, electrical systems or automation

  • Supporting delivery in environments where design, assurance and regulatory considerations are critical

  • Understanding how EC&I interfaces with procurement, suppliers and installation activities

Skills that will help you succeed

We need you to demonstrate:

  • Strong project management capability across planning, scheduling, risk, cost and change control

  • Confidence using project tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, Excel, Power BI or similar (training can be provided)

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical topics

  • Influencing skills that allow you to build trust across engineering and delivery teams

  • A structured, organised approach with the flexibility to adapt as priorities change

Qualifications and professional background

We’d love you to have:

  • An Engineering degree, or equivalent experience managing engineering projects

  • A Project Management qualification (APM PMQ or equivalent), or significant practical project experience

  • An understanding of product or systems engineering

  • Membership of a professional body (advantageous, not essential)

  • Familiarity with UK nuclear regulation or other regulated industries (beneficial but not required)
