The mission of the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) is to be the agency of record for Massachusetts health care information, to responsibly steward sensitive and confidential data, and to objectively report reliable and meaningful information about the quality, affordability, utilization, access, and outcomes of the Massachusetts health care system.  

The Project Manager will manage and assist on all aspects of complex projects from inception to conclusion including technical project delivery and independently manage defined workstreams, assisting with planning, coordination, risk monitoring, and process improvement efforts. The successful candidate will be driven and enthusiastic and want to make a tangible impact on a critical component of the Commonwealth’s healthcare reform system. 

At CHIA, we foster a flexible, collaborative environment, offering a hybrid model that balances in-person and remote work. Our hybrid model includes working from our vibrant Boston office at 501 Boylston Street for at least two designated days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely on others.  

Reporting to the Director of Client Relations, the Project Manager will:  

Partnership and Technical Guidance

  • Partner with delivery teams to assess technical feasibility, align realistic timelines, and guide projects using knowledge of system architecture, SDLC, data, and infrastructure needs.

Project Leadership and Coordination 

  • Lead software development and data management projects from planning through delivery, keeping people informed, aligned, and focused on shared goals. 

  • Coordinate with directors and cross-functional teams to manage resources, risks, issues, dependencies, impact analyses, and contingency plans so projects stay on track 

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication 

  • Serve as a trusted liaison for clients, stakeholders, sister agencies, and internal teams by gathering information, documenting options, and supporting collaborative problem-solving. 

  • Facilitate meetings, follow up with team members, prepare clear project documentation and status updates, and support CHIA project management for best practices. 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing technical projects using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid. 

  • Demonstrated understanding of system architecture, software development lifecycles (SDLC), and infrastructure requirements to evaluate technical feasibility and guide delivery team.  

  • Project management experience and knowledge of MS Project and Azure DevOps.  

  • Ability to learn technical processes and translate project details into clear documentation, status updates, and action items using technical expertise. 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with technical and non-technical audiences.  

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to respond to changes in priorities in a flexible manner. 

  • Experience delivering projects on time, and within scope.  

  • Strong customer service background to resolve user requests and maintain client relationships. 

  • Ability to identify, isolate, and communicate issues and risks, and develop agency-wide procedures, standards, and guidelines. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment, public agency, or IT department  

  • Experience with crafting clear and well-structured business requirements and documentation 

  • PMP Certification. 

Total Compensation: 

We value the talent and expertise you bring to the table. We offer a competitive salary range of $105,000 - $120,000 for this position. Salary is commensurate with experience. CHIA may adjust title, responsibilities, and salary depending on the experience and expertise of the individual selected.
