Job Description

AECOM plays a critical role in the conceptualisation and creation of amazing spaces, delivering projects that define skylines and communities. AECOM Midlands Buildings & Places is made up of dedicated teams delivering projects in Justice, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Education, Government and Commercial sectors. We are looking to build on the success of the region and to develop our team in Birmingham.

We are friendly, busy and motivated with an established track record of successfully delivering local and overseas projects. Some of our flagship work in recent years include;

  • Government Property Agency Transformation Programme.
  • National Probation Service Reform Programme.
  • British Embassy in Bangkok.
  • HMP Stocken expansion.
  • HMP Birmingham Refurbishment.

About Our Role

Our Midlands Programme, Project and Cost Management Business Unit continues to grow. As a direct result of successfully securing positions with high profile clients and key local projects we are currently seeking a Project Manager to join us in our Birmingham office.

As a Project Manager you will be part of an exciting and diverse team, supporting us to successfully manage and deliver capital projects across the Midlands and UK. The role would cover the whole project lifecycle from initial inception and business case development, through the design, procurement process, site delivery, commissioning phase and defects management.

Experience in managing multiple projects and stakeholders in an environment where timescales and goals can change is essential.

Job Duties will include:

  • Delivery of Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery.
  • Ensuring commissions are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently and on time
  • Strong relationships are developed with clients and members of the cross-functional team
  • Being the primary interface with AECOM clients (New and Existing)
  • Providing effective support to Assistant/Graduate Project Managers.
  • Managing the delivery of project  outputs, in accordance with agreed time-scales and quality standards

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills
  • Production of formal reports and documents which clearly set out complex issues
  • Experience of successfully delivering construction projects
  • Experience in a number of project management roles
  • Good Understanding of CDM regulations
  • Good design management experience.
  • Good contractor management experience
  • Experience of working with stakeholders/clients to produce Strategic Development Briefs and Client/User requirements
  • Experience of working as part of complex, multi-disciplinary/multi-agency Project Teams
  • NEC 4 Contract Administration (Accreditation a positive)
  • Experience of Risk and Stakeholder Management techniques
  • Security clearance would be an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Qualified – ideally Project Management/ Construction/Engineering/Quantity Surveying Degree
  • Chartered Status or working towards chartered status with the RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or other equivalent institution
  • APM affiliation preferred (as secondary accreditation
