Job Summary  

The NERC CIP Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating compliance initiatives aligned with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards for medium impact assets. This role ensures the timely execution of projects, with full accountability for deadlines, stakeholder alignment, and audit readiness, adherence to regulatory requirements, and alignment with internal risk and compliance frameworks. A key focus of this position is the delivery and maintenance of all required CIP medium impact policies, plans, procedures, and training materials. The Project Manager will ensure that clients are fully equipped and trained to operate effectively within a CIP medium impact environment and ensure that evidence is being consistently generated to demonstrate ongoing proof of compliance with the appropriate CIP Standards 


​​Role and Responsibilities​ 

  • Manage cross-functional teams to implement and maintain NERC CIP compliance programs for medium impact BES Cyber Systems. 
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables across multiple departments. 
  • Coordinate internal audits, gap assessments, and remediation activities. 
  • Serve as liaison between technical teams, compliance, and Clients, acting as a trusted advisor who translates regulatory requirements into actionable guidance. 
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure proactive compliance strategy updates, driving continuous improvement beyond audit readiness. 
  • Prepare and present project status reports to senior leadership. 
  • Support training and awareness programs related to NERC CIP standards. 
  • Ensure documentation and evidence meet audit and regulatory expectations. 

 

Required Qualification & Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related experience  
  • Proven track record in project management roles, preferably within the field of operational technology or a related industry.   
  • Working knowledge in regulatory compliance, NERC, FERC, or other reporting obligations for operating projects. 
  • Expertise in project agreements & material terms 
  • Proven client communication skills 

Required Skills & Competencies 

  • Strong understanding of NERC CIP standards, especially for medium impact assets 
  • Proven project management experience in regulatory or compliance environments 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. 

Required Software Knowledge 

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe PDF toolsets 

Preferred Experience 

  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, NERC and FERC 
  • Participation in NERC CIP audits 
  • Customer service experience 
  • Successful delivery of large cross functional projects 
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry  
  • Experience with CIP medium impact Control Centers is preferred  

Preferred Skills & Competencies 

  • Root cause analysis and problem solving skills 
  • Demonstrated success leading NERC CIP compliance efforts for medium impact assets in renewal energy or other critical infrastructure sectors.  
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distill information and present it in an understandable manner appropriate for the audience 
  • Training creation, process improvement. 
  • Able to provide coaching and training sessions 

Physical requirements 

  • Ability to work an 8-hour day at a computer and in meetings  
  • Ability to travel to customer sites. 

The salary range for this position is $120,000-140,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and other relevant factors. This range is offered for informational purposes only and does not constitute a guarantee of any specific salary.
