The Opportunity

The Project Manager, Accounting will serve as a key link between Accounting, Finance, Operations, Information Technology, and other areas of the organization.

This position is designed for someone who understands the accounting world but also has the ability to manage timelines, coordinate stakeholders, improve processes, support system implementations, and drive projects from concept through completion.

This is not solely a traditional transactional accounting position. The ideal candidate will combine strong accounting knowledge with project-management skills and a continuous-improvement mindset.

What You’ll Do Accounting Project Management
  • Lead Accounting and Finance-related projects from planning through completion.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, responsibilities, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate activities between Accounting, Finance, IT, Operations, and other departments.
  • Track project progress and follow up with stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Identify project risks, delays, resource concerns, and potential accounting issues.
  • Facilitate project meetings and maintain clear documentation of action items and responsibilities.
  • Provide regular project updates to accounting leadership.
  • Ensure completed projects are successfully transitioned into day-to-day accounting operations.

Accounting Systems & Technology

  • Support ERP, accounting system, financial reporting, and technology-related initiatives.
  • Participate in system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and data migrations.
  • Partner with IT and outside vendors to communicate accounting requirements.
  • Coordinate user testing and validation of new accounting functionality.
  • Assist with data reconciliation and accuracy during system conversions.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting processes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, workflows, and procedures.
Process Improvement
  • Review existing accounting workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Evaluate processes for duplication, bottlenecks, manual work, and control gaps.
  • Help standardize accounting processes across departments and business entities.
  • Support improvements to month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Develop project plans for reconciliation, reporting, documentation, and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Measure the effectiveness of implemented changes.
  • Promote continuous improvement throughout accounting operations.
Business & Subsidiary Integration
  • Support Accounting activities associated with new businesses, subsidiaries, acquisitions, and organizational changes.
  • Coordinate Accounting onboarding and integration activities.
  • Assist with standardizing charts of accounts, reporting processes, reconciliations, vendor procedures, and financial workflows.
  • Track integration-related accounting tasks through completion.
  • Partner with subsidiary leadership and internal departments to collect required financial information.
  • Identify differences between existing processes and PCA Accounting standards and assist with developing transition plans.
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are considered during accounting projects and process changes.
  • Assist with identifying control gaps and developing corrective action plans.
  • Maintain proper documentation, approvals, reconciliations, and segregation of duties.
  • Support the development and maintenance of accounting policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with audit-related projects and remediation initiatives.
  • Maintain organized and accessible project and accounting documentation.
Reporting & Financial Data
  • Support projects designed to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Assist with standardized reporting packages, reporting calendars, and financial-data workflows.
  • Coordinate financial data collection across departments and business entities.
  • Support reconciliation and validation efforts involving systems and reporting changes.
  • Develop project tracking tools and reporting dashboards for management.
What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will be someone who can understand the details of accounting while also seeing the bigger picture.

You should be comfortable managing multiple projects, following up with stakeholders, identifying problems, and driving initiatives forward in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 3-5 years of progressive Accounting, Finance, financial systems, or related professional experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating or managing Accounting, Finance, ERP, system implementation, or process-improvement projects.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, fixed assets, and month-end close processes.
  • Experience working with ERP or financial systems.
  • Experience with system implementations, integrations, upgrades, or data migrations is strongly preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong project-management, organizational, and documentation abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage several priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with accounting and non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality involving financial and Company information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within a multi-company or multi-entity organization.
  • Experience in distribution, retail, e-commerce, logistics, beauty, or a similarly complex business environment.
  • Experience with Accounting system implementations and business integrations.
  • PMP, CAPM, CPA, or similar professional certification is a plus but not required.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is:

$85,000.00 – $115,000.00 annually

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including the candidate's experience, education, technical knowledge, project-management background, accounting expertise, and overall qualifications.

  • Medical Dental and Vision available on the first of the month after 60 days
  • after one year of service, Employees are eligible to join the 401(k) with up to a 4% match
  • Supplimental benefits including, but not limited to, pet insurance, short- and long-term disability, AD&D etc.
Work Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt position based in Ronkonkoma, New York.

The standard operating schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Additional hours may occasionally be required based on month-end or year-end activities, system implementations, audits, project deadlines, and other business requirements.
