We are actively looking for Project Specialists to manage, coordinate, and/or support activities related to the execution of major company projects and programs. Project Specialists support Project Managers by coordinating key deliverables, activities, resources, meetings, equipment, and other information necessary for project completion, and maintaining project plans, reports, and technical documents. They also serve as a point of contact for the project team, ensuring effective communication and team coordination. Project Specialists support planning, monitoring, and management of internal projects, including complex, multi-year initiatives within and across OUs such as Finance, Regulatory, HR, Engineering, Transmission &Distribution, Legal, Customer Support, and Administrative Services as well as construction projects, infrastructure investment, and new facilities from initiation through completion. They support development of project, resource, and staffing plans, secure required resources, track and report on progress, troubleshoot issues, and ensure project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule, cost, and regulatory requirements. They monitor performance and recommend schedule changes, cost adjustments, or resource additions including determining how changes will impact status, budget, and timeline. Project Specialists are assigned to a new project that could be in any OU or Function.
The primary purpose of all Project Specialist roles is to support the Project Manager through coordination of project activities, tracking and maintenance of project plans and documentation, completion of analysis, and management of work-streams or component of a large project.
Responsibilities
- Supports specific work streams or short-term projects where the number of inter-dependencies and inter-connections are moderate to highly variable. Assigned activities and/or project(s) encompass a level of high variations requiring agile management of deadlines.
- Accomplishes results through own efforts. May act as lead to other Project Management Specialists.
- Conducts analysis and provides status reports that communicate project health and potential risks/roadblocks. Challenges are varied and complex.
- Applies advanced in-depth knowledge of project management support principles, methods, procedures, and practices in the development and execution of project management support activities.
- Coordinates activities that support completion of tasks necessary for project execution.
- Identifies problems and solutions. Provides input to project objectives, timelines, risks, milestones, deliverables andbudgets.
- May lead project teams under the direction of Project Manager.
- Identifies and resolves issues and conflicts amongst team members and, if needed, escalates to Project Manager or resolution.
- Conducts analysis and prepares presentations for use in communicating facts, practices, and policies to internal contacts and team members
- Serves as primary liaison with internal and external project stakeholders.
- Exercises independent judgment and discretion to advise and recommend courses of action. Provides input for decisions regarding establishing and changing project direction
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Associate degree in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Work Experiences (5 +Years): Typically possess five or more years of project support experience.
- Project support, utility, or construction experience; or combination thereof.
- Typically possesses 2 or more years of experience performing project management functions such as investigating and resolving problems, coordinating and communicating key project decision and deliverables (i.e. Change Managment documents)
- Demonstrated intermediate-level experience using Microsoft Office suite, including spreadsheet and presentation software tools to develop deliverables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with coordinating meetings, activities, resources and tracking deliverables.
Additional Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management or related field.
- Project Management Certificate.
- Demonstrated experience working in a utility or contractor environment supporting the development and/or execution of
- major transmission or distribution projects/programs, large capital projects, or Third-Party interconnection projects.
- Demonstrated intermediate- to advanced-level experience using Microsoft Office suite, including spreadsheet and
- presentation software tools to report out data trends and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience with applications such as SharePoint, Aconex or other document management platforms.
- Demonstrated experience working across multiple disciplines, interdepartmental teams and engaging with internal and external suppliers and stakeholders.
- Ability to proactively manage time constraints, prioritize work, and resolve project related concerns through strong oral and
- written communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization.
- Customer focused and have the ability to understand and appropriately respond to internal and external stakeholders’ business needs.
- Strong ethics, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning
