Our Project Management Leader for Northern California will work out of our West Business Unit and will be located in the Greater Sacramento Area. As a Project Management Leader, you'll be the guiding force for excellence, leading a team to deliver outstanding performance. You'll chart the course of short-term triumphs and long-term victories, all while ensuring our clients are showered with satisfaction.  

Target Salary: $165,000 - $195,000+ depending on experience

Project Management Leader Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Lead by example! Directly manage projects and provide examples to others of the correct means and methods to achieve the desired results.
  • Assume daily leadership responsibilities for a team comprising superintendents, project managers, assistant project managers, and various construction-related support roles.
  • Represent SitelogIQ (SIQ) with the utmost professionalism, courtesy, precision, positivity, respect, and attention to detail when interacting with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Foster an effective team through proactive communication skills, promoting clear interactions within internal SIQ functional teams (business development, engineering, and accounting), as well as with external customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced team members, offering guidance on all aspects of Project Management.
  • Oversee the team's activities, including coaching, training, development, goal setting, and feedback in collaboration with HR and career planning.
  • Contribute input and document feedback during quarterly coaching reviews and annual salary planning and administration.
  • Cultivate productive partnerships with subcontractors, overseeing their selection, contract development, and ongoing management.
  • Identify and lead the implementation of process changes aimed at enhancing project delivery productivity while ensuring cost competitiveness.
  • Lead and actively participate in monthly business performance reporting.
  • Prepare and review critical documents such as meeting minutes, proposals, memos, emails, and other forms of correspondence.
  • Instill the expectation of exceptional customer service within the team.
  • Advocate adherence to the SitelogIQ process manual, guiding newer team members while maintaining flexibility to foster continuous improvement.
  • Challenge the team to enhance productivity while efficiently managing multiple contracts of varying sizes.

Safety:

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for strict compliance with regulatory and industry safety standards, adhering to the guidelines outlined in the SafetyIQ Manual.
  • Take proactive measures to ensure a secure work environment and document incidents and corrective actions when nonconformities in site safety are reported.

Planning:

  • Motivate team members to establish and regularly update project execution plans, including budget considerations and Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules. These plans encompass detailed lists of targeted and actual activities, their respective durations, and sequencing logic, all designed to ensure the successful achievement of project milestones.
  • Verify material lead times and efficiently manage delivery logistics.
  • Coordinate project activities with utility and government regulatory agencies as required.
  • Assist in obtaining utility Interconnection and CA DSA approval for K-12 projects.
  • Develop and maintain preconstruction, construction, and closeout execution plans and documentation.
  • Ensure utility agreements, commissioning records, as-built records, O&M, and training is provided to clients.

Quality:

  • Uphold stringent quality standards mandated by contracts for both design and construction, ensuring unwavering adherence to these standards.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of all shop drawings and submittals, ensuring strict compliance with design specifications before submission to the design professional.
  • Participate in the selection of project components and oversee procurement, coordinating all necessary project resources.
  • Initiate and oversee approval processes with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to swiftly resolve objections and facilitate the transition from conceptualization to approved design and installation.
  • Schedule and plan essential pre-job and post-job site inspections, addressing on-site issues promptly and ensuring the timely completion of all punch list tasks.
  • Meticulously manage quality control procedures, including preparatory meetings and final inspections.
  • Coordinate warranty responses and ongoing monitoring support.
  • Ensure all project documents, including records of communications, design documents, bid packages, addenda, bulletins, and submittals, are distributed, reviewed, and stored in compliance with project and corporate requirements.

Financial Performance Responsibilities:

  • Advocate adherence to SIQ budgeting standards and promptly identify any deviations during project execution. Vigilantly oversee and report project costs, inspiring corrective actions as needed.
  • Exercise precision and diligence in cost management, aligning project activities to maintain progress within scheduled timelines and budget.
  • Coordinate the progress billing process from project initiation to completion, including collecting schedule of values, lien releases, certified payrolls, and invoice validation.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Accountants to ensure accurate records of project materials on-hand and maintain meticulous inventory accounting.
  • Manage change control documentation and related financial documentation.

In addition to the specified responsibilities and qualifications, the Project Management Leader must perform any other job duties as assigned.

Project Management Leader Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in construction management or a related field.
  • 5+ years of prior experience in the construction-related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams.
  • Track record of managing annual revenues exceeding $12 million.
  • Completion of or willingness to obtain OSHA 30 certification (covered by the company) within one year.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel 25%.
  • Mandatory CA Department of Education Federal and State Background Clearances.
  • Availability for on-site travel and supervision duties, including potential after-hours or weekend work.
  • Proficiency in using the MS Office Suite, including MS Project, as well as web-based and smartphone applications. Familiarity with construction technology and management software, with a preference for Procore, Blue Beam, and BIM.
  • Knowledge of utility interconnect agreements, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and California Utility Regulatory agencies, including CPUC, CEC, and CALISO, is a plus.
  • Experience with the DSA (Division of the State Architect) approval process is preferred.
  • Understanding of electrical theory, National Electric Code, and California Building and Electrical Codes is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with revenue-based accounting methods is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical capability to climb ladders and stairs, comfortably lift 40+ pounds, and stand for extended periods.
