Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the production of ExploreLearning's award winning K-12 science and math learning software by making and debugging web-based interactives, widgets, and simulations built with technology that includes TypeScript, Jest, SCSS and Vue.js, solving product issues as they arise and moving data with scripts in python3

  • Document processes

  • Occasionally write pages using the in-house GrapesJS fork

  • Review Pre-Production materials, help learning designers identify feature requests in advance of authoring

  • Support the tools that are involved in product production including but not limited to GrapesJS, Figma, FileRun, AWS S3 and Contentful

  • Prioritize and triage issues reported by QA and Customer Support personnel

  • Support Digital Artists and their tooling

  • Advance the product in terms of accessibility, performance and security

  • Advance the product as an experience for End Users (Students and Teachers) as well as Developers and other internal stakeholders

  • Advance the CI/CD methodologies of product production

  • Maintain the dependencies of the stack and develop the product according to best practices

  • Plan and rewrite production software that is at end of life

  • Drive analysis of backend data streams to determine how effectively products are performing in the wild i.e. in K-12 classrooms, with an eye toward continuous improvement

  • Organize and direct the work of other developers on the team; provide guidance and mentorship

  • Effectively plan the body of software development work (including organizing dev-side sprints) and regularly demo progress and present to leadership; stay organized in all work and meet all set deadlines; also, adjust plans in collaboration with leadership in an agile manner when the unexpected is inevitably encountered

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in software development and engineering

  • Proficient experience in Javascript/Typescript

  • Proficient experience with the Vue/Vuex framework or similar MVVM frameworks such as ReactJS or AngularJS

  • Knowledge of HTML & CSS

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

  • Experience with github actions

  • Some Experience with Python

  • Some Experience with Jira

  • Experience in a remote first workplace

  • Experience with UX design for the web

  • Experience with production-driven work environment

  • Experience with "creative coding" (d3, p5.js, three.js, etc.)

  • Experience in the EdTech-specific software development

  • Experience with science and/or math teaching and learning in formal or informal settings
