Roles & Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Agile events: Daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives; making sure they are effective and foster continuous improvement.
- Partner with the Product Owner to ensure backlog quality: Collaborate closely to confirm that user stories meet the Definition of Ready, are actionable, and are prepared for effective backlog refinement and sprint planning.
- Protect team focus and communication: Act as a shield against outside distractions and ensure the team receives consistent, prioritized messages to avoid context switching and confusion.
- Guide and coach teams in Agile practices: encourage self-organization and cross-functional collaboration while coaching teams on Agile principles and values.
- Remove impediments and shield the team: proactively identify and eliminate obstacles that hinder progress and protect the team from external distractions.
- Manage stakeholders and priorities: work with Product Owners to align the backlog with business goals; communicate status, risks and issues to stakeholders.
- Drive process improvement: promote a culture of continuous improvement by refining team processes, tracking progress toward sprint goals and using Agile metrics for forecasting.
- Generate Agile Metrics and Reports using Jira and other project management tools.
- Ensure compliance and risk management: adhere to company frameworks, identify and mitigate risks and maintain delivery governance.
- Mentor and develop others: provide training on Agile concepts and mentor new Scrum-Masters.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, preferably Computer Science/IT, or related fields required
- 8+ years of proven experience as a Scrum-Master, ideally leading multiple teams and successfully transitioning them from Waterfall to Agile approaches.
- Deep understanding of the Agile methodology and Agile frameworks but with the ability to adapt principles as required to fit with the business requirements.
- Strong communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to stand up and defend Agile principles when challenged.
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban/Scrumban), knowing not only the differences but also when to switch if one is not working as expected.
- Use of Agile related tools; ability to estimate, plan and forecast using Agile metrics.
- Excellent facilitation, communication and conflict-resolution skills; capable of fostering a trusting and transparent work environment.
- Track record of coaching teams and organizations in Agile practices and encouraging continuous improvement.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams, manage multiple stakeholders and invoke as well as adapt to change.
