Position Overview

As Project Investment Associate, you will report to the Head of Supply & Investment, and you will work closely and cross-functionally across the entire organization. You will play a crucial role in driving climate action by financing forward supply from high-quality projects utilizing a variety of contracting methods. These projects will deliver on-the-ground impact and provide Rubicon Carbon with high impact carbon credits for use by our corporate partners. As a member of the supply team you will be responsible for the sourcing of quality high-integrity nature & technology based credits in our growing portfolio and will conduct diligence on new project and investment opportunities. The ideal candidate has investment and technical expertise in nature and technology based carbon project types with transaction experience in both developed and emerging markets. 

This is a remote/hybrid-optional position but candidates must be based within one hour of our New York City, Los Angeles, or San Francisco offices


Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis and due diligence of investment opportunities, including the assessment of investment metrics and risks, assist with transaction execution of project/portfolio investments; project types include both green-field projects, late-stage development projects, and secondary/operating project/portfolio acquisitions.
  • Prepare and analyze detailed financial models, including the modeling of capital (debt) and tax structures as well as conducting sensitivity analyses
  • Prepare tracking documents for portfolio investments and periodic evaluations
  • Draft industry and sector analysis reports, business plans and other documents
  • Establish, develop, and expand relationships with developer partners, customers, and channel partners.
  • Coordinate with various departments across the business including Science, Legal, and Accounting both pre and post closing 
  • Research, secure, and redeem state and national incentives in key carbon removal markets.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Several years of relevant commercial experience in carbon markets within an investment context with a track records for seeing deals through to completion
  • Exposure to infrastructure investing is a plus
  • Superior financial modeling and due diligence capabilities
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work in situations with changing priorities and multiple simultaneous assignments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; experience presenting analyses to senior leaders and ability to lead and drive initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with outstanding attention to detail
  • Highly self-motivated with strong integrity
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas, both verbally and in writing
  • A collaborative team player

Compensation

The approximate annual base compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total cash compensation package, long-term incentives, and excellent benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant's experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team, among other factors.
