Role Description:
Arcadis is seeking a Project Industrial Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Industrial Wastewater Treatment team in Syracuse, NY. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who is eager to take on challenging projects, work alongside industry-leading experts, and contribute to the delivery of cutting-edge industrial wastewater treatment solutions across North America.
In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in the planning, design, and implementation of complex industrial wastewater treatment systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage directly with clients, mentor junior engineers, and help deliver projects that drive sustainability, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance for industrial facilities across a variety of market sectors.
Role Accountabilities:
As a Project Industrial Wastewater Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the successful delivery of innovative industrial water and wastewater solutions for clients across North America. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and industry-leading experts, you will apply your technical expertise, project leadership skills, and client-focused mindset to help deliver complex treatment projects from concept through commissioning.
- Lead technical analyses, process evaluations, engineering calculations, and design activities for industrial wastewater treatment projects.
- Develop and implement treatment solutions utilizing a range of technologies, including physical, chemical, biological, membrane, filtration, adsorption, disinfection, thermal evaporation, and crystallization processes.
- Manage project tasks and technical deliverables, ensuring quality work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Prepare scopes of work, technical reports, cost estimates, project schedules, and other project documentation to support successful project execution.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, environmental, and construction teams to deliver integrated, high-performance treatment solutions.
- Build strong client relationships by understanding project needs, providing technical guidance, and delivering practical, value-driven solutions.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff while upholding Arcadis' quality, safety, and project delivery standards.
Travel (up to 25%) may be required to support client meetings, site assessments, and construction activities.
Key Skills and Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong understanding of industrial wastewater treatment processes, technologies, and system design, along with a demonstrated ability to successfully deliver complex industrial water and wastewater projects. You possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and have experience managing project execution, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and balancing technical, schedule, and budget objectives.
You are a proactive and collaborative professional with strong project leadership capabilities, including prioritizing tasks, managing client expectations, and mentoring junior staff. Your experience includes project management and design delivery, capital and operations and maintenance (O&M) cost estimating, project scheduling, work planning, and technical documentation. A high level of emotional intelligence, sound engineering judgment, and a solutions-oriented mindset enables you to effectively navigate complex challenges while building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.

- Master's degree in Engineering or related field
- 10 years of industrial wastewater treatment experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in NY or ability to obtain through reciprocity

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $109,890 - $152,064. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
