Project Engineering Manager - EMEA
Job Summary:
The Manager, Project Engineering will have a highly visible role within the business leading the Civil Structural Engineering and Foundation Engineering for Array’s EMEA market. This involves managing a team and functional oversight for engineers focused on specific markets. You will be responsible for owning parts of the workflows in the Pre-Sales, Contract Prep and Post-Contract processes, focusing on detailed design work required to generate Issued for Construction deliverables.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Manage a broad range of engineering disciplines primarily responsible for the final engineering scope of work detailed below:
- Civil Structural Engineers responsible for structural design of the tracker
- Civil Drafters responsible for preparing site layout and construction drawings
- Foundation/Geotech Engineers responsible for design of the tracker foundation and grading analysis
- Electrical/Controls Engineers responsible for design of the tracker electrical and controls system
- Delivering post-sale tracker and foundation engineering services to support contracting
- Delivering tracker and foundation engineering services to support construction
- Preparing final structural design and associated drawings and calculations packages
- Developing the Project BOM and managing BOM changes over the construction phase
- Serving as customer’s primary technical point-of-contact for RFIs post-contract
- Collaborate closely with the Application Engineering Manager, Civil Structural Engineering Manager, Project Manager, Product Management and Foundation/Geotech Engineering to ensure Array’s full scope of technical services leads the market
- Develop expert-level technical knowledge of Array’s product offering and their corresponding application
- Work regularly with contributors and leaders across the business to ensure Project Engineering processes and capabilities fit within the larger business workflows
- Provide work prioritization direction to team members as needed based on Array’s larger business priorities
- Manage relationships with Professional Engineering firms in regions where Array operates
- Create and deliver technical presentations for customer meetings on structural/foundation engineering topics as needed
- Build strong technical relationships with customer’s engineering leadership
- Drive the validation of ARRAY’s product portfolio with strategic customers when needed
- Collaborate with customers to identify technical project requirements in RFPs
- Provide timely feedback on questions related to project or product design
- Address escalated issues, technical or otherwise, from others in the Project Engineering team
- Support development and evaluation of tools and software applications used by the Project Engineering Group
- Own and advance structural engineering concepts and methodologies, working within the other engineering disciplines and thought leaders to ensure aggressive, defendable, optimized designs are our first and last offer to our customer
- Be expected to travel within assigned markets, up to 10%
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or structural engineering
- 5+ years of experience in an Engineering role
- 2+ years of experience in steel design for industrial or utility applications
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s Structural Engineering degree
- Experience managing a team of engineers, preference on managing a remote team
- Experience in solar, renewables, or power generation equipment
- Detail oriented and deadline driven with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical information
- Outstanding communication, presentation, interpersonal and multi-tasking abilities
- Experience in renewable energy preferred, ideally utility solar industry
- Ability to work across multiple organizations in a fast paced, smaller company environment
