Job Description

Project Management

Scope of Work & Time Schedule

  • Accountable for consolidation of the provisional drawing list, issue with submission dates, and global time schedule of engineering activities.
  • Ensure that the follow-up of critical activities is done on a regular basis by discipline PEMs (Project Engineering Managers).

Time Delivery Mastering

  • Support work packages to anticipate and mitigate delivery issues.
  • Coordinate with discipline engineers on delivery time of technical interfaces; check that information exchange interface sheets are in place and followed.
  • Challenge the global time schedule for engineering activities in close collaboration with PEMs and the planner.
  • Ensure technical disciplines are coordinated in terms of interfaces and synchronization.

Budget and Resources

  • Responsible for the project engineering budget; manages monthly follow-up, identifies potential savings and deviations through the modifications sheet.
  • Ensures imputations are properly allocated by WBS to ensure a consistent Return on Experience.

Communication

  • Animate Visual Management sessions / I-Obeya.

Project Strategy & Risk Management

  • Elaborate the engineering execution strategy.
  • Participate in project strategy elaboration with the Project Director.
  • Define and validate the design quality plan for the entire engineering scope.
  • Ensure implementation of EMH guidelines.
  • Consolidate and follow technical risks & opportunities for the whole project, along with the corresponding mitigation/action plan.
  • Implement a design freeze process for the project and validate the design freeze following relevant design reviews and technical risk assessments.

Customer Relationship

  • Responsible in front of the customer for the engineering execution of the project. Acts as the preferred contact for customer management on all engineering-related topics.
  • Accountable for compliance with customer technical requirements; organizes clause-by-clause analysis and coordinates certification activities when required.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements through technical queries; track and manage potential exceptions.
  • Together with all PEMs, ensure that answers to the customer are consistent and check cross-impact of comments.
  • Manage customer technical meetings (including validation meetings, clarifications, design liaison meetings).

Document & Configuration Management

  • Organize, with the Integration & Interface Manager and Document Controller Leader, the technical document management for the project: tool setup, delivery process, master drawing list, questions/responses follow-up.
  • Validate and check consistency of engineering documents before final release to the customer.
  • Coordinate tracking of customer comments and responses, along with document resubmission.
  • Ensure management of return status of project documentation (approved, comments, resubmit, rejected) is performed.
  • Coordinate tracking and management of identified or potential deviations.

Design Expediting

  • Accountable for the on-time delivery of engineering.
  • Check effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget and seek global cost optimization during basic design.
  • Approve transmittal of documents to the customer.
  • Review main subcontracting files for major work package design activities (scope, deliverables, inputs, schedule).
  • Ensure execution of OMM is coordinated.

Process & Tools

  • Ensure deployment of engineering tools (CAD, PDM/DMS) is done as per strategy.
  • Define design management tools.
  • Organize design review plan and manage design reviews with the customer and certifier (if any).
  • Integrate EHS requirements based on project strategy.
  • Set up and consolidate engineering KPIs and reporting for the whole project on a regular basis (generally monthly).
  • Ensure non-conformance reports involving engineering are managed.

Sourcing & Procurement, Supplier/Partner Management

  • Support PEM integration in the management of technical interfaces with main subcontractors, customers, and third parties.

Quality

  • Comply with quality procedures, work instructions, and processes in EMH.
  • Report or resolve any non-conformances in a timely manner.

Health and Safety

  • Implement design freeze and EHS in design.
  • Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure the Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team.
  • Set the example by demonstrating proper actions, actively observing work conditions and behaviors, giving constructive feedback, and celebrating effective EHS prevention.
  • Actively participate in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.
  • Routinely observe routines and behaviors of others, provide immediate feedback regarding unsafe behavior, and celebrate achievements or safe behaviors.

Desired Profile and Experience

  • 10+ years of engineering activities in EPC-type environments in T&D, Power Gen, or Oil & Gas industry.
  • Mastery of engineering processes such as civil work, plant configuration, control & protection hardware, system & performance studies, or electrical design.
  • Successful experience in project technical management on large-scale projects with complex organizations.
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of project execution risks and financial processes.
  • Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium periods and to travel worldwide.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in an unstructured environment and deliver results.
  • Demonstrates ownership & accountability, judgment and decision-making, influences & inspires teams, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role.
  • Global experience and mindset, including high technical cultural competence and sensitivity.
  • Fluent in English, German language is a decisive advantage
