Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Project Engineer located in Prai or Batu Kawan, Penang.

The Project Engineer is responsible for providing comprehensive operational and administrative support to the Engineering Lead while ensuring effective governance of engineering budgets, capital expenditures (CAPEX), assets, spare parts, procurement activities, and project execution. This role serves as a key coordinator for the overall P9 Project, ensuring operational efficiency, financial compliance, and timely execution of engineering initiatives.

What a typical day looks like:

1. Engineering CAPEX, Expense & Procurement Management

  • Manage engineering procurement activities by raising Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and coordinating the complete procurement process.
  • Monitor REQ/PR/PO status and maintain accurate project procurement trackers.
  • Coordinate shipment arrangements, material receiving, and supplier deliveries to support project schedules.
  • Perform Purchase Order (PO) closure and ensure timely completion within the aQuire system.
  • Monitor engineering CAPEX and operational expense budgets, ensuring budget utilization aligns with approved forecasts.
  • Prepare budget forecasts, spending analyses, and financial reports for Engineering Management.
  • Coordinate CIP capitalization, fixed asset registration, and asset ownership transfer with the Finance team.
  • Support Finance, engineering lead, in resolving Open Purchase Orders (OPO) and other procurement-related compliance matters.

2. Engineering Operations & Project Management Support

  • Provide operational and administrative support to the Engineering Lead for the overall P9 Project.
  • Coordinate supplier visits, meetings. 
  • Support engineering resource planning, recruitment coordination, employee performance reviews, and departmental administration.
  • Track project milestones, action items, and deliverables to ensure timely project execution.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication among Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Facilities, and other supporting departments.

3. Engineering Spare Parts & Asset Management

  • Manage engineering spare parts inventory and monitor monthly consumption and expenditure.
  • Prepare monthly spare parts utilization, inventory, and cost reports.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy, stock availability, and proper asset documentation.
  • Monitor asset movement, equipment registration, and engineering inventory control.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve inventory efficiency through effective planning and monitoring.

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience.
