The Project Engineer will assist the team, including Project Manager, Senior Project Manager and Project Executives in managing the construction of projects including drafting contracts, allocating budgets, managing cost, scheduling, procuring material, quantity tracking, managing project deadlines, coordinating with project superintendents and outside consultants. All while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

 

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Project Start Up- assist in issuing subcontracts and purchase orders, reviewing drawings and specs, allocating budget, procuring permits, conducting internal preconstruction meetings, and jobsite mobilization.
  • Cost Management- assist in assembling and submitting change estimates, reviewing subcontractor scopes, drafting of subcontractor change orders, and managing change estimate log.
  • Material Procurement assist in the management of the submittal review and approval process, tracking submittal log, and facilitating receipt of correct submittals from subcontractors/vendors.
  • Project scheduling assist in issuing overall project schedules and periodic short-term duration schedules, reviewing daily jobsite needs with Superintendent, completing daily logs, preparing meeting minutes, securing project delivery dates, and following quality control checklist.
  • Information Processing: manage and update contract documents and RFI process, assist in Shop Drawings process by entering the log/submittal schedule, prepare jobsite inspection reports, track project safety logs, and keep project filing structure organized
  • Client Satisfaction learn and/or assist with 3-6 week look-a-head schedules, create project photo documentation with Superintendents, prepare owner update for large projects
  • Project Closeout complete timely project closeout including completion of punch lists, submission of closeout documents, receipt of final project payment from Owner and distribution to subcontractors.
  • Safety - adhere to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Degree in Construction Management or related field preferred, AA or BA. Work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.

Work Experience:

  • 0-1 years of project management and/or construction management experience in commercial remodeling and/or new building construction
  • Basic understanding and aptitude to learn building codes and ADA laws.

Technical Competencies include:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, Projects
  • Timberline- Estimating, Job Cost & Project Management preferred and/or aptitude to learn new software
  • Viewpoint Software preferred and/or aptitude to learn new software
  • Bluebeam preferred and/or aptitude to learn new software

Professional Competencies include:

  • Ability to assist and effectively manage several projects, in various stages of activity simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of construction estimating, both conceptual and unit quantification
  • Aptitude to learn effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Able to maintain accurate and detailed records


Compensation & Benefits:

The per anum base pay range is $70,200 - $105,000. The base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities. The position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include travel pay and/or a bonus or incentive program. Defered compensation may be provided for eligible positions.
