The Human Health and Performance Contract supporting the Johnson Space Center is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer for an upcoming NASA exploration project in Houston, Texas.
The Test Engineer - NASA Human Health Flight Hardware Support is to provide critical test engineering skills and provide oversight to technical teams for flight hardware development in support of human health related systems as NASA continues to evolve systems for exploration missions including Gateway, lunar surface, Mars transit, and Mars surface missions. This role will participate in, mentor, and guide test activities throughout project life cycle phases-- from early concept development, design, integration, testing, verification and validation, operations and through sustainment. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders, including customers, team leads, and team members, and therefore must possess solid human spaceflight engineering technical knowledge and experience, along with excellent communication skills. Awareness of the impacts that spaceflight travel has on human physiology, behavior, and medical state is desired. Other duties will be assigned as required.
US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to successfully obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance is required
Primary Responsibilities
• Utilize project requirement documents and verification documents to develop test strategies/planning and produce test plans, test set-ups, and procedures.
• Participate in Engineering Design Reviews and help drive the implementation of any required changes to support test activities (in-process and assembly) and test methodologies and guidelines.
• Provide training/mentoring of Associate Test Engineers in test processes, procedures and test setup designs with attention to proper test discipline requirements and standards.
• Providing technical expertise in testing and product development knowledge to the team.
• Review development of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) design and procedures to support the qualification and acceptance test program and pre-flight processing.
• Develop controlled paperwork for testing, including disposition of non-compliant hardware
• Prepare Test Readiness Review (TRR) packages and present at TRR for the projects
• Correlate test results and complete data analysis as required in a report format
• Troubleshoot test anomalies and work thru the fault trees to obtain failure resolution
• Collaborate with designers, quality engineering and facility test personnel to resolve design/test issues in an expedited fashion to effect repairs and re-test with minimal impact
• Coordinate and schedule test facilities as required to meet test schedules
• Influence strategic approach across projects and proactively identify and solve problems that impact strategic approach.
• Provide feedback to appropriate stakeholders, including recommendations for improvements, evaluation of problems, potential solutions, and discussion of test requirements.
• Process development hardware and flight hardware at KBR facility and NASA/Johnson Space Center.
Minimum Qualifications
BS degree in engineering, and minimum of 6+ years of applicable professional experience with increasing levels of technical and leadership responsibilities.
• Ability to work in Microsoft Office's suite of tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Reliable and dependable work habits and the dedication to get the job done.
• Ability to work within a dynamic team environment.
• Ability to translate concepts across multiple disciplines.
• Excellent skills in both written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical, functional, and/or project lead experience in test engineering and experience mentoring its application.
• Experience with NASA or DoD Work Instructions and MBSE practices
• Prior experience with the NASA flight hardware development process
• Prior experience with Solid Works

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
