Engineering and Engineering ServicesJob Summary:
This position is responsible for designing, planning, and managing all phases of engineering projects for the Distribution Facilities group. This work includes, but may not be limited to: conducting technical audits and investigations into processes of each terminal facility within CF Industries’ distribution system, facilitate scope development of capital projects, compile estimates based on developed scope, prepare Authorization for Expenditures (AFEs) for requesting capital funds, detailed engineering, follow Management of Change (MOC) protocol, prepare request for bid packages, evaluate proposals, requisition materials, write and plan work orders as necessary, execute project scope utilizing outside construction contractors, and track overall project costs and schedules. Informal and formal feedback on project statuses is to be provided to supervision as necessary.

Major Responsibilities:
- Incorporate the applicable requirements of the site EHS program into project design scopes and continually evaluate ways to make the site operate more safely.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental departments to ensure the project safely meets the end user’s needs and are in compliance with all CF Policies and applicable laws/regulations.
- Define project scopes, prepare accurate cost estimates and execution schedules, and prepare AFEs and Non-Routine Maintenance projects which is timely, properly conveys the project’s objectives and is well written.
- Budget, design, and manage installation of safe, economical, and effective modifications and upgrades to the facility within the allowable schedule.
- Effectively develop project schedules/project cash flow projections, communicate project status vs schedule and budget targets to management, and execute approved projects within approved budgets.
- Maintains ongoing familiarization with all procedures, equipment, and processes.
- Create and maintain process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), electrical drawings, and instrumentation loop diagrams for assigned projects.
- Provide general engineering support to Distribution Facilities personnel by serving as a resource regarding facility operation in the areas of process evaluation/improvement, project definition, development and implementation, and specifications for repair parts and replacement items.
- Coordinate field work of and control/monitor on-site contractors.
- Strive to improve skills that add value to both them and the company.
- Maintain an ongoing familiarization with all procedures, equipment, and processes.
Incumbent Attributes:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET accredited university required. Mechanical or Chemical degree preferred, but open to Civil with applicable experience.
- 3 – 7 years’ experience related to facility design, operations, and regulations in a PSM covered chemical processing environment
- One year of in-plant experience preferred, whether permanent or periodic temporary assignment.
- Ability and willingness to climb stairs, ladders, and otherwise work in an outdoor chemical plant environment as needed to monitor project construction progress on a frequent basis.
- Working knowledge of PC software applications, including Basic MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), MS Project, SharePoint, AutoCAD Suite (AutoCAD, Plant3D), and a Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and effective team skills in order to effectively communicate/interact with all employee levels.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
- Capable of organizing/prioritizing projects and tasks, exercise independent judgement, and handle several projects/support activities simultaneously across multiple locations.
- Working knowledge of industry codes & standards, including API, ANSI, ASTM, PIP, etc.
- Ability to gain sound knowledge of all terminals throughout distribution system and be able to recognize potentials for improvement.
Position Scope/Contribution:
- This position is critical to project design, evaluation and execution in all areas related to Distribution Facilities. Travel to facilities and related conferences/seminars is required as needed. Typical annual time spent traveling is approximately 40%. Trips are typically within North America and last 2-3 day/1-2 nights per week.
