If you are an engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an opening for you! Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will implement fast-paced, time-sensitive scroll compressor development projects for Residential Air Conditioning products. This role is for someone with a passion for new product engineering and development, along with teamwork, project management, customer communication, and problem-solving skills. You will support the evaluation, maturation, and development of scroll compression technologies focused on best-in-world efficiency and optimized for a new generation of environmentally friendly refrigerants.

AS A PROJECT ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Support the development of fixed-speed residential scroll compressors from prototype through product release

  • Utilize analytical tools and engineering methods to evaluate and improve compressor performance, reliability, and quality

  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and engineering teams to address technical challenges and support product requirements

  • Assist with DFMEA activities to identify technical risks and support qualification and validation planning

  • Support project execution by tracking technical deliverables, milestones, and development activities

  • Coordinate prototyping, testing, and validation efforts while ensuring compliance with engineering, quality, and regulatory standards

  • Work with cross-functional and global teams to provide technical support, communicate project updates, and assist internal and external customers

SCHEDULE:

This is a first-shift, onsite position with a flexible start time. While this department primarily work onsite, occasional work-from-home days can be available when needed and aligned with business requirements.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology or equivalent.

  • 1-5+ years’ experience with new product development through a systematic product release process

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this position

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Ability and desire to solve technical problems using structured problem-solving methods

  • Experience with scroll compressor design and development

  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer

  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles

  • Works effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Ability to quickly understand and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Excellent project management and organizational skills
