PROJECT ENGINEER – GREENFIELD SITE

Scope: Project Engineering – Construction / Greenfield Project
Location: Monterrey Area (Salinas Victoria, Nuevo León) / On Site
General Description
This role is responsible for coordinating the technical and engineering aspects of a project from planning through execution and startup, combining engineering expertise with project management skills. The Project Engineer ensures effective coordination of multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and according to scope and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through commissioning.
- Provide on-site supervision during construction, installation, startup, and commissioning phases.
- Ensure project deliverables meet technical specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, local regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Quality, Operations, and SHE.
- Review and validate engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Develop and promote creative solutions to engineering challenges and project risks.
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and innovative solutions.
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting activities.
- Promote a strong safety culture to achieve an accident-free project.
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, construction, project execution, or manufacturing plant operations.
- Experience coordinating contractors, multidisciplinary teams, and field activities.
- Strong understanding of construction/project execution, safety, quality, and operational requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Intermediate-advanced conversational English for interaction with international contractors.
- Availability to work 100% on-site in Salinas Victoria, Nuevo León, supporting construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
Nice to Have
- Experience in greenfield projects, industrial expansions, or large-scale CAPEX projects.
- Experience working with EPCM, turnkey, construction, or industrial installation contractors.
- Knowledge or certification in PMI, Agile, Lean, EEM, or similar project management methodologies.
- Experience in chemical, manufacturing, or industrial plant environments.
