The Engineer, Project Engineering supports the development and execution of capital projects and plant engineering initiatives to sustain and improve manufacturing capabilities. This role applies engineering expertise to equipment, processes, and systems while collaborating with project teams, plant partners, and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable, and value‑adding solutions that support company growth.
What you’ll do
- Support the execution of capital projects by providing technical engineering expertise across project phases, from concept through commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, food safety, and regulatory requirements during project and plant engineering activities.
- Provide technical input to project teams, including equipment selection, specifications, layout development, and vendor evaluations.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Controls, and external partners to support successful project outcomes.
- Assist with the development of project documentation, schedules, cost estimates, and technical justifications.
- Provide technical support to plant operations to sustain and improve production capacity, reliability, and performance.
- Investigate and evaluate new or improved technologies, equipment, and methods to improve capability, efficiency, and profitability.
- Support commissioning, start‑up, and handoff of new equipment and systems to operations and maintenance teams.
- Participate in cross‑training efforts to build broader engineering capability and understanding of enterprise project management tools.
- Assist plant leadership and engineering teams with technical reviews, customer visits, audits, and engineering support as needed.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and standard operating procedures.
- Together with the leadership team, support compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, customer requirements, and applicable PCPs, CCPs, and standard operating procedures.
What you will need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Typically requires a minimum of 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of electrical controls, automation systems, or manufacturing equipment (e.g., PLCs, VFDs, servos).
- Experience supporting engineering projects or capital initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, cross‑functional environment.
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications and engineering tools.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility over time.
