Summary
The successful Project Engineer will develop comprehensive Technical and Commercial solutions for modernizations and repairs of equipment for Rolling Mill, Metallurgy and Process Line equipment, utilizing a proactive customer-oriented sales focus.

The right candidate will
- Identifies and requests setup of storeroom inventory items for commonly used parts.
- Monitor, organize, and communicate the need for customer supplied inventory.
- Responsible for job related material and resource planning.
- Manages projects and works directly with contractors and vendors.
- Identify, develop, and implement product improvements through use of SMS Technical Services and customer approval.
- Coordinates strip and advise within two-week window.
- Prepares and submits strip reports to customers.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvement ideas for continual improvement by utilizing latest industry standards and techniques.
- Schedules repairs based on scope of work, lead time, and priority. Also, schedules quotations and work orders based off of due dates and lead times.
- Monitors job progress to ensure run times are being met.
- Coordinates equipment repairs with Production Manager.
- Determine and schedule resources needed (i.e. equipment, manpower, tools, work hours, etc.)
- Schedule, coordinate, and lead 5S events.
- Ensures customer requested ship dates are consistently met by scheduling work through all departments.
What you’ll need
- Manufacturing or Process Engineering degree preferred; Mechanical engineering also considered
- 3-4 years relevant experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of corporate policies and compliance
- Demonstrated prior success in achieving results using team driven philosophies
- Demonstrated proficiency in supporting corporate interest from remote site locations and ability to communicate and exercise very positive people skills.
