Essential Responsibilities:
The Electrical Project Engineer - Substations is responsible for HV / EHV substation design. In this position, you will:
Execute all technical aspects of AC power substation projects under the guidance of a Lead Engineer.
Work on high voltage substation general arrangement and layouts, plan and elevation drawings, bills of material, arrangements for high voltage bus, cable, high voltage equipment, conduit, cable, and wiring, grounding, and control buildings. Perform related engineering calculations. Coordinate overall design with other design disciplines providing basic single line drawings and schematics, relay protection and control requirements, and
Write high voltage equipment specifications and issuance of material purchase request forms, and vendor quotation evaluation for substation equipment including high voltage circuit breakers, switchgear, disconnects, high voltage power transformers, high voltage cable, and protection and control systems.
Resolve project technical issues for the customer and project manager. Work with the project manager and Lead Engineer to maintain project man hour budget and schedule.
Participate in a team of engineers and designers, coordinate with sourcing and the project team on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectives
Interface with internal and external team members such as Principal engineers, Protection and Control Engineers, Electrical Designers, Physical Designers, Draftsmen, Project managers, and support organizations
Work on developing proposals including writing and/or reviewing technical specifications, estimating materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, directing designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements, and the development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses
Support engineering automation, productivity projects, and quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum 4 years of work experience in power systems engineering and design
Ability and willingness to travel, including international and must comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies
Passed FE exam, registered E.I.T

Desired Characteristics:
Minimum of 2 years of substation design experience
Experience / working knowledge of applicable design calculations such as battery sizing and DC system component selection, control and power cable selection and rating, bus sizing, fittings, insulator selection, ground grid design, and lightning protection
Work exposure to Transmission and Distribution substation engineering for utilities and renewable energy power plants and projects experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in substation type applications for primary/physical/outdoor design, including aspects of civil design and control and relay protection design
Knowledge of and experience using IEEE and ANSI standards and codes such as the NEC and NESC
Prior GEV work experience
Demonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability
Ability to lead small teams, innovate, and be accountable for results in order to deliver a high-quality product on time and under budget
Good presence in front of the customer with demonstrated commercial experience such as Project Management or Sales
Excellent personal computer skills, including programming and familiarity with AutoCAD, including 3D modeling

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
