We are looking for a talented Project Engineer – Senior to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our CDBS (Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems) location at Morristown, TN. 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:   

  • Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with engineering, operations, quality, safety, and production teams to deliver manufacturing solutions that align with business objectives, improve plant performance, and support successful project execution.

  • Drive Clear Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring manufacturing requirements, project updates, process changes, and improvement initiatives are understood and executed successfully.

  • Champion Safety Excellence: Promote a culture of safety by identifying risks, supporting corrective actions, and integrating health, safety, and ergonomic best practices into manufacturing processes and workplace design.

  • Optimize Manufacturing Processes: Analyze and improve manufacturing methods, equipment, and workflows to enhance quality, productivity, cost efficiency, and operational performance through continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Design and Implement Production Solutions: Utilize engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, and technical requirements to develop effective production processes, tooling, fixtures, and workstation layouts that meet product and customer expectations.

  • Leverage Data for Decision Making: Apply manufacturing analysis, simulation tools, and performance data to evaluate process changes, identify opportunities for improvement, and support informed operational decisions.

  • Solve Complex Manufacturing Challenges: Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts to address production issues, implement sustainable corrective actions, and prevent recurrence while protecting customer and business interests.

  • Establish Standardized and Sustainable Operations: Develop clear process documentation, support equipment and capital procurement decisions, and create standardized work instructions that improve consistency, reliability, and long-term operational success.

Responsibilities

.To be successful in this role you will need the following:   

  • Project Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Ability to lead facility projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and support equipment reliability and performance.

  • Engineering & Layout Design Skills: Experience developing plant layouts and optimizing workflows, equipment placement, and material flow within a manufacturing environment.

  • Technical Drawing Interpretation & Software Proficiency: Ability to read and comprehend electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Microsoft Project is a plus.

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 
Experience: 
Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
