IMEG is hiring a Project Engineer in Los Angeles, CA, to lead structural design efforts for low- to moderate-complexity projects and support the delivery of larger, more complex work alongside senior staff. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and consultants to provide structural engineering solutions and client-focused guidance for buildings and other structures, including analysis, design, and implementation oversight. You’ll also help manage project budgets, mentor less experienced staff, and collaborate across teams to achieve project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities
• Lead the analysis and design of structural systems using a variety of building materials
• Utilize engineering software and tools to prepare detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
• Interact with clients to understand project requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong professional relationships
• Support the execution of consulting projects as part of a project team
• Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities to meet deadlines and objectives
• Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project progress related to percent complete and fee expended
• Analyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants
• Perform in-process reviews of structural designs, calculations, and specifications and implement IMEG quality control processes
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
• Prioritize safety, act ethically and professionally, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, identify project issues, and support project delivery through bidding, design, and construction administration phases
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
• Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) License required
• 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
• Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
• Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and other structures
• Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
• Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
• Proficiency in the use of BIM software
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

State of California Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
