Cumming Group is seeking a Project Engineer to support a premier K-12 education client in Martinez, CA. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career construction professional to gain hands-on experience representing the owner's interests while working alongside an experienced project management team. You'll be involved in the planning, coordination, and delivery of impactful school modernization and capital improvement projects, building a strong foundation in owner's representation and public sector construction. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist top Project Manager on site in formulation of the design, bid, and Project phase scheduling of the assigned project(s). 
  • Provide update/status reporting for work in progress including costs and schedules. 
  • Assist in the Addenda and Bid process. 
  • Administer Project sub-contracts. 
  • Under the supervision of Project Manager(s) facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes. 
  • Maintain accurate records. 
  • Under supervision of Project Manager(s) conduct close out activities and assist with building occupancy. 
  • Assist the project management team with various parts of the project such as constructability review, value engineering, pay app reviews, schedule development, FF&E program development and execution. 
  • Assist in formulating the design, bid, and project phase of scheduling. 
  • Assist in the Addenda and Bid process. 
  • Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct pre-bid and job start meetings. 
  • Monitor contract compliance and report concerns to Project Manager. 
  • Under the supervision of Project Manager, facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes. 
  • Oversee approvals from applicable government agencies are received and documented. 
  • Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct close out activities and assist with building occupancy. 
  • Prepares field reporting for review by Project Manager. 
  • Perform QA/QC process. 
  • Review change orders for completeness and conformance to company and client standards. 
  • Review RFIs/Submittals for completeness before distribution to design team. 
  • Provide basic CPM scheduling and budget management. 
  • Review and maintain As Built drawings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance at work during normal business hours. 

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Experience with design & bid formulation and project phase scheduling.
  • Experience with the Addenda and Bid process.
  • Ability to facilitate site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Ability to communicate with various stakeholders, internal and external to the company. 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how project documentation impacts the project flow. 
  • Ability to read blueprints. 
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Engineering, or related field, a combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree  

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in project construction 

DSA or Public project experience required.

The salary range for this full-time role is $91,700.00-$122,300.02 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
