JOB SUMMARY
The Project Engineer has a working knowledge of the design, development and implementation of large wastewater pumps. The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the development of new products, new applications, and improvement of existing products through mathematical evaluation and existing company standards. The position supports manufacturing, sales and marketing programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide general supervision and technical guidance for all current water and wastewater pumps. Provide recommendations on design, manufacturing and application of products.
- Review commercial bid documentation on a project basis as required.
- Develops a practical and innovative approach to meet technical and project requirements and is responsible for overall development of pump layouts through interaction with pump designers and drafters.
- Ensures that product design meets quality, safety and reliability requirements while utilizing the company’s best practices.
- Supports the resolution of manufacturing and field problems by recommending solutions based on technical and industry knowledge.
- Prepare and implement testing programs for the improvement of products or product performance as required.
- Design, engineer and oversee the manufacture and/or performance testing of prototypes and model pumps as required.
- Prepare Instruction Manuals for customer use.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE -Minimum Requirements
- BS Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
- Coursework in water and wastewater processes with working understanding of conventional water and wastewater treatment systems industry standards is desired.
- Coursework in machinery design and fluid power or hydraulics is desired.
- Four to Ten years minimum experience in a rotating equipment environment, preferably in pump design, along with a strong background in mechanical analysis methods.
Specialized Knowledge Required – Including any required certificates, licenses, and registrations
- Knowledge of water treatment equipment, processes and associated “bench” testing.
- Strong technical writing abilities.
- Computer experience with MS Word and Excel.
- Able to effectively communicate written and verbally in the English language.
- Strong communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Creo (Pro/Engineer) and/or AutoCAD 2010 or later a plus.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards such as ASTM, ASME, AWWA and the Hydraulic Institute.
