Project Engineer II

Job Description:

The Engineer II, Project Engineering supports commercial and utility-scale PV projects from development through construction support. Working within established Nextpower engineering standards, policies, and procedures, this role applies developing professional expertise to complete project design activities, review site and design inputs, and resolve routine to moderately complex engineering issues. The position supports engineers and designers on site plans, mechanical sheet sets, foundation drawings, bills of materials, value engineering, and other design tasks supporting project quoting and execution. The Engineer II collaborates with engineering teams in the US and India, as well as Sales, Project Management, and R&D, and receives general guidance on new or less familiar assignments.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do… 

Provide design support to develop tracker layouts, CAD blocks, mechanical sets, and full construction plan sets in accordance with established engineering standards and procedures.

Review pertinent site information and design inputs, identify routine design considerations, and assist in selecting appropriate product types based on site conditions.

Collaborate with engineering teams, including the India office, to implement new product configurations and drafting standards and support defined automation or process-improvement activities.

Support value engineering exercises by analyzing project information, identifying practical design alternatives, and recommending cost-reduction opportunities within established guidelines.

Coordinate with Nextpower designers and engineers in other regions to implement product standards, design changes, and solutions to project-related issues.

Apply learned techniques in basic topography and hydrology analysis to support tracker placement and project design decisions; escalate complex or non-routine conditions as appropriate.

Prioritize day-to-day assignments with limited instruction, communicate status and issues, and provide responsive support to internal and external customers.

Experience Required:

BS in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering, or related, preferred 

Min. of five years working knowledge of engineering and drafting standards, with the ability to apply established procedures to routine and moderately scoped assignments.

Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD; ability to create and revise engineering drawings and documentation with appropriate review.

Strong organizational, prioritization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices and determine appropriate action for varied, routine-to-moderately complex issues.

Ability to build productive internal and external working relationships and collaborate effectively to resolve project, procedure, or transaction-related issues.

Ability to tie basic knots and demonstrated familiarity with more complex knots, as required for field or project activities.

Here are a few of our preferred experiences… 

Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus.

Knowledge of construction sheet sets and PV plant project design a plus.

Solar or renewable energy industry experience preferred.
