Scope
The Project Engineer performs engineering design evaluations and supports project completion within budget and schedule constraints. This position reviews applicable industry policies, procedures, production reports, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance information to identify and address project issues. The Project Engineer provides technical support throughout the engineering process and serves as backup to the Project Manager when required.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Participate in Invitation to Tender development, bid evaluation, and contractor selection.
- Participate in identifying and sourcing long-lead equipment.
- Ensure continued FEED contractor support until equipment is assigned to the selected contractor.
- Coordinate development of ExxonMobil Capital Project Management System Gate 3 deliverables.
- Coordinate development of the Functional Interaction Plan.
- Coordinate the project issue-resolution process.
- Coordinate change requests and endorse change authorizations.
- Ensure assigned work scopes are completed consistently with project objectives.
- Engage project-team and functional resources to verify that design and construction comply with project specifications and standards.
- Serve as the primary interface between the project team and contractors.
- Ensure smooth transitions between project stages.
- Lead the Project Management Team in applying project-management systems.
- Provide backup support for the Project Manager as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- Five to 25 years of relevant experience.
- Experience across engineering, construction, project management, and project-controls assignments.
- Facilities, oil and gas, and project execution experience are required.
- Conventional and/or unconventional oil and gas experience.
- Upstream experience is preferred but not required.
- Broad multidisciplinary project experience and skills.
- Broad knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, and work processes.
- Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface-management skills.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequently changing priorities.
- Self-starter capable of succeeding in a fast-paced project environment.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
