Position Summary
The Project Engineer leads maintenance, reliability, equipment replacement, and sustaining capital projects in industrial facilities. Responsibilities include project development, scope definition, estimating, engineering coordination, procurement support, construction oversight, and startup activities. This role works closely with operations, maintenance, contractors, and engineering teams to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with technical requirements.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and execution plans.
Prepare cost estimates, funding requests, and contractor work packages.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities and design deliverables.
Manage project execution, including scope, schedule, budget, risks, and MOC requirements.
Support procurement, vendor selection, equipment reviews, and contractor oversight.
Provide technical leadership during construction, outages, turnarounds, commissioning, and startup.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline).
7+ years of experience in industrial project engineering, maintenance, reliability, or sustaining capital projects.
Experience with project scoping, estimating, budgeting, engineering coordination, and construction execution.
Strong understanding of industrial operations and maintenance practices.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience in power generation, mineral processing, specialty chemicals, or heavy manufacturing.
Experience supporting outages, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
Knowledge of PSM, OSHA, environmental regulations, and capital project stage-gate processes.
Experience working with EPC firms, contractors, and owner-operator organizations.
Ideal for engineers who enjoy managing projects from concept through startup while improving plant reliability, safety, and operational performance.
