JOB DESCRIPTION:

Audubon is currently seeking a Project Engineer I to join our team in our Houston Office.  The Project Engineer will be responsible for project engineering on small projects or assigned portions of larger projects. Coordinates engineering, construction, purchasing, scheduling, and start-up activities and/or maintains the technical excellence of the engineering scope across disciplines. Ensures assigned work is executed safely, in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, budget, schedule, quality standards, and project objectives. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes and demonstrates the company's values, safety culture, and ethical standards.
  • Coordinates engineering, construction, purchasing, scheduling, and startup activities for assigned project scope.
  • Supports the Project Manager in planning, executing, controlling, and closing small projects or portions of larger projects.
  • Facilitates effective communication and coordination among engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, procurement, construction, and operations.
  • Maintains technical quality and consistency across disciplines and confirms compliance with project requirements, codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Understands, follows, and reinforces standard engineering practices and applicable project execution procedures.
  • Coordinates discipline inputs, interfaces, reviews, and required approvals for project deliverables.
  • Confirms deliverables receive appropriate checking and approval before issuance; performs spot checks for quality and presentation.
  • Monitors deliverable progress and support on time issuance in alignment with the project schedule.
  • Coordinates project schedules, resource needs, and cost estimates for assigned scope.
  • Prepares or coordinates change order requests and estimates at the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Prepares, reviews, and distributes project meeting minutes, status reports, and other project communications.
  • Maintains action-item, request for information, management of change, and closeout/punch lists and drives items to resolution.
  • May facilitate internal and external project meetings and communicate decisions, risks, and required actions.
  • Coordinates the development and issuance of project specifications and other multidisciplinary deliverables.
  • Identifies and resolves routine project issues; escalates significant safety, technical, cost, schedule, quality, or client concerns.
  • Supports procurement, vendor coordination, construction, commissioning, and startup activities as required.
  • Develops or improves project team workflows and resolves findings from project reviews or audits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; responsibilities may vary by project.
  • Independently coordinates small projects or defined portions of larger, multidisciplinary projects. Works within approved scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Typically has no direct reports but may provide day-to-day work coordination and technical guidance to project team members. 

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required; master's degree may be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience required; typical relevant experience ranges from 10 to 15 years.
  • Prior experience at a senior/general engineering level or in a position of comparable scope and complexity.
  • Professional Engineer registration preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting or leading small projects or defined scopes within larger multidisciplinary projects.
  • Working knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering deliverables, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Experience in onshore oil and gas pipeline and pipeline related facilities preferred; related experience in onshore gas processing, hydrocarbon storage and transportation, chemical manufacturing, or refining is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret project scope, specifications, codes, standards, contracts, schedules, estimates, and technical documents.
  • Ability to coordinate project schedules, cost estimates, staffing needs, priorities, interfaces, and changes.
  • Strong technical judgment with the ability to review deliverables for completeness, consistency, quality, and presentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, meeting facilitation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines, influence without direct authority, and provide team leadership.
  • Proficiency with standard office, document-control, scheduling, and project-management tools applicable to the assignment.
