Project Engineer - Electromechanical positions offered by Hitachi Energy USA Inc. (Raleigh, North Carolina). Act as design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Complete assignments on projects cost effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. Exercise responsibility for mechanical plant design of HVDC stations both onshore and offshore, CAD activities with 3D-modelling in parts and assemblies, 2D-drafting for drawings, layout and sections, building requirements, detailed design and bill of quantities, installation drawings and as-built drawings. Use design principles, guidelines, and applicable standards within electromechanical plant design of HVDC stations, both onshore and offshore. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers. Support site engineering and supervise the installation of mechanical plant design scope.
Minimum Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience working with power systems for HVDC stations.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 3 years of experience as stated, employer will accept a master’s or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 1 years of experience as stated.
- Must have 1 years of experience in each of the following:
- Working with manufacturing and production processes, as well as the standardization and modularization of steel structures;
- Engineering Low, Medium, High, or Extra High Voltage substations using design principles, guidelines and industry standards;
- Using Single Line Diagrams (SLD) and electrical standards and regulations (NEC, ANSI, IEEE, IEC, or NFPA);
- Writing requirement specifications;
- Creating 2D drafting and 3D modeling for preliminary, final, and as-built documentation for installation drawing using modeling software AutoCAD, NX, or Revit;
- Preparing Bill of Materials, Bill of Quantities, estimated engineering hours, design layouts, and maintenance access and safety documentation for engineering presentations;
- Preparing project documentation and interacting with customers, suppliers, or contractors regarding the scope of deliveries;
- Troubleshooting during design and installation phases;
- Ensuring adherence to safety standards and mitigating potential risks; and
- Working with multiple teams across different backgrounds, including civil, electrical, mechanical, and coordinating engineers, BIM specialists, engineering interface managers, project engineering managers, technical lead engineers, or plant lead engineers.
- Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
- Position reports to Raleigh, NC office. Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy but must live within commuting distance of stated office.
