Job Description
A Day in the Life
As a Project Engineer – Electrical Hardware Design, you will be responsible for delivering electrical control panel design projects end to end, from interpreting customer requirements through design, testing, and customer acceptance. You will work closely with cross‑functional engineering teams and report to the Team Lead, working onsite in Pune, with travel to customers or regional offices as required for testing and commissioning.
Your Responsibilities· Interpret customer specifications and translate them into detailed requirements for electrical control panel and system design.
· Develop engineering deliverables including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, panel layouts, and test procedures.
· Execute assigned projects on time, ensuring quality, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
· Perform system testing on the shop floor and support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and site activities when required.
· Prepare and share weekly project progress reports with internal stakeholders and customers.
· Ensure project implementation complies with engineering standards, quality procedures, and safety requirements.
· Maximize reuse of standard products, designs, and engineering practices across projects.
· Collaborate with the Supervisor and project team to identify, clarify, and mitigate technical risks.
· Continuously improve engineering capability by sharing best practices and technical knowledge within the team.
The Essentials – You Will Have· Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
· 5–7 years of experience in project execution for electrical control panel or control system design.
· Hands‑on experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical.
· Strong capability in component selection and preparation of control system Bills of Materials (BOM).
· Experience performing power and heat load calculations and designing appropriate panel layouts.
· Ability to develop single line diagrams and wiring drawings in compliance with IEC and JIC standards.
· Willingness and ability to travel for FAT, site support, or commissioning activities as required.
· The ability to travel 25% of the time
The Preferred – You Might Also Have· Experience designing control panels for hazardous areas or environmentally specified applications.
· Knowledge of third‑party certification requirements and compliance‑driven panel design.
· Familiarity with P&IDs, system architecture, I/O lists, and design documentation for process safety applications.
· End‑to‑end project lifecycle exposure, from design and engineering through commissioning.
· Strong industry and application knowledge with a foundational understanding of project management principles.
