The Program

This role is part of the Advanced Operations Global Engineering Development program that provides engineering and leadership development across several areas of Stryker’s business. Project Engineers in this role will have the opportunity for on-site functional rotations between the Advanced Operations, R&D, Quality and Operations organization, gaining highly valuable experience in key areas of Device Manufacturing Business. The program is 20 months in duration and begins in September of each year. Core training opportunities in both hard engineering and soft personal skills for example, validation activities in regulated industry, design transfer requirements, GD&T, additive manufacturing, six-sigma greenbelt, presentation skills, finance, and global interactions are integrated into the program. Exposure to Senior Leadership within Stryker and networking opportunities including global interactions across the business are a fundamental part of the program.

Functional Rotation Opportunities

As a program participant, graduates will begin their journey with Advanced Operations, then rotate through two other functional areas before returning to Advanced Operations.

Advanced Operations (AO)

AO plays a critical role in Stryker that interfaces between R&D activities and manufacturing, translating design requirements into manufacturing and process requirements and designs and specifies the manufacturing process for either internal manufacturing or external manufacturing partnership.

Rotations may include two of the following:

Supply Chain Optimization

The function of the Supply Chain Optimization organization is to unlock value, reduce supply risk and streamline our current production chains through use of manufacturing transfer. Team members will perform due diligence and provide manufacturability assessments on product transfers to both Stryker production facilities and strategic suppliers. Team members will also work with our global partners and senior leaders by creating in-depth scoping plans and cost-benefit analyses that drive business excellence and both top and bottom-line growth.

Quality

At Stryker, Quality always comes first. Whether it is new product development or sustaining existing products, Quality Engineers are the voice of quality for Stryker. They are responsible for reliability engineering, human factors engineering, risk management, design validation and more, while ensuring compliance to FDA Quality System Regulations and ISO 13485.

Operations

Manufacturing Engineers are key players in supporting Manufacturing and Operations of Stryker products. The function focuses on opportunities to increase capacity, reduce scrap, improve safety, monitor existing processes, and identify and implement process improvements while adhering to medical device manufacturing regulations.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering support for new product and process introductions, ensuring that all activities are completed and documented in accordance with the Stryker new product development procedures.

Ensure quality of process and product as defined in the appropriate operation and material specifications.

Will assist in the selection of components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements.

Support capital acquisition activities.

Will analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental test and result analysis. Participate in process review meetings.

Participate in PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP and PPAP generation associated with product transfers and launches.

Complete capability studies for in process inspection and generate subsequent Inspection documentation.

Conduct MSA studies for new products and new processes.

Provide training for manufacturing team members.

Ensure adherence to GMP and safety procedures.

All other duties as assigned.

What You Need

B.S or M.S. in Engineering ; we will only consider candidates with December 2024 or spring of 2025 graduation dates

3.0 minimum cumulative GPA (or equivalent)

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future

Ability to travel internationally

Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

The individual should enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic and results orientated team environment.

Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively work cross-functionally and externally as required.

Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, product and process design.

Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and have the ability to understand geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.

Experience in an FDA regulated or regulated industry beneficial.

High level of PC Skills required.

Excellent attention to detail.
