Project Director

Job Summary:

The Project Director provides leadership and administrative oversight for the Safe Path Forward project. This position oversees project implementation, supervises project staff, coordinates community partnerships, and ensures activities align with SAMHSA requirements, the approved grant narrative and budget, and United Keetoowah Band (UKB) priorities. The Project Director serves as the primary project contact for SAMHSA and supports culturally responsive suicide prevention efforts for youth and families throughout the service area.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day project operations and ensure activities, deliverables, and reporting requirements are completed within established timelines.
• Serve as the primary project contact for SAMHSA communications, technical assistance, and required grant activities.
• Lead the development and implementation of the Community Workgroup, Community Needs and Readiness Assessment, Tribal Strategic Action Plan, and postvention protocols.
• Supervise and support the Project Coordinator and PRSS/Youth Engagement Specialist.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, tribal departments, law enforcement, behavioral health providers, and community organizations.
• Collaborate with Echota Behavioral Health clinical staff to support suicide-risk screening, safety planning, referrals, and linkage to care.
• Coordinate with the evaluator, grants staff, and fiscal staff to review project performance, monitor expenditures, and ensure accurate and timely SPARS data submissions and required reports.
• Ensure youth voice, family engagement, cultural practices, and Keetoowah values guide project planning and implementation.
• Maintain project documentation and participate in required meetings, trainings, and technical assistance activities.
• Perform other duties related to the project as assigned.
• Follow all policies and procedures set forth by Echota Behavioral Health. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position will supervise and support the Project Coordinator and PRSS/Youth Engagement Specialist.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, social services, public health, education, program administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

License/Certifications:

• No professional license or certifications required for this position.

Experience:

• Experience managing youth, behavioral health, prevention, community-engagement, or federally funded programs.
• Knowledge of suicide prevention, trauma-informed practices, federal grant requirements, and culturally responsive programming.
• Ability to oversee program activities, supervise staff, maintain documentation, and meet reporting requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, documentation, and partnership-development skills.
• Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license and a clear background check. 

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to travel locally for outreach activities.

• Requires discretion, empathy, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.

Work Environment:

• Office-based position.

This position may have care of or contact with Indian children.
