Position Overview 

Coeur Mining Inc. is searching for a highly motivated and committed individual for our Silvertip Project Director position. Reporting to the Vice President - Projects, the Project Director is accountable for the overall leadership, governance, and successful delivery of the Silvertip project from the current level of front-end-loading project development to an operating mine within a remote, Northern British Columbia Canda underground mining environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the project is delivered to the approved project business case, executed safely, on time, within budget, and meeting project quality, while aligning with organizational strategy and capital objectives.

The Project Director will interface with the General Manager- Operational Readiness, General Manager – Site Operations and will engage with Coeur’s Executive and Senior Leadership Team related to matters of project delivery, governance, and performance and the Manager, Permitting related to matters of technical information delivery to support the Silvertip permitting process.

Coeur Mining is recruiting for this role under a contract/consultant structure. Candidates from Canada and United States will be considered.

Occupational Experience & Education Requirements

  • B.S. Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management
  • Advanced degree or training highly regarded
  • Professional designation (e.g. P.Eng) and/or PMP certification
  • Advanced project management training is highly desirable
  • Minimum of 20 progressive years of experience in major mining or heavy industrial projects, including significant leadership roles over large capital projects

Knowledge, Skills, Attributes

  • The Project Director has advanced knowledge of studies and delivery to start-up of underground mine development, mineral processing plants, and mining infrastructure. The Project Director provides direction to project leadership and is accountable for supporting the development and delivering the approved project execution strategy, driving project safety and quality, and managing and controlling project baselines, major changes, expenditures, and overall project performance outcomes.

Working Conditions

  • 75% hybrid office environment / 25% field
  • The successful candidate will be required to travel as-required to Coeur’s Chicago corporate office, various third-party service provider locations, and fly-in fly-out to the Silvertip project site during the course of the project 

 

 

 

Skills Required

  • B.S. in Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management
  • Advanced degree or training
  • Professional designation (e.g., P.Eng) and/or PMP certification
  • Advanced project management training
  • Minimum of 20 progressive years in major mining or heavy industrial projects with leadership over large capital projects
  • Advanced knowledge of underground mine development, mineral processing plants, and mining infrastructure

  • Project controls and risk management skills
  • Team leadership and development experience
  • Ability to work in office and active project site environments; travel to sites and corporate offices
  • Ability to manage heavy remote communications across multiple time zones
  • Proficiency with heavy spreadsheet and document review workflows
