Help Build One of Germany’s Largest Battery Energy Storage Projects!

About the Role

As Project Development Manager Germany, you will take ownership of two strategically important battery energy storage projects that Giga Storage recently acquired in Germany. Both projects have secured land and grid connection capacity and are now entering a crucial phase focused on permitting, stakeholder management, and project maturation.

The key challenge lies in successfully navigating the permitting process and aligning the interests of landowners, local authorities, grid operators, and external development partners. You will act as Giga Storage’s representative throughout this process, ensuring that project objectives, timelines, budgets, and strategic interests are effectively safeguarded.

Working closely with an external project development partner, you will play an influential role in shaping project decisions and driving progress. Strong stakeholder management, persuasion, and communication skills are therefore essential. While you will not be responsible for preparing permit applications yourself, you will coordinate the process, challenge assumptions, manage risks, and ensure all parties remain aligned.

In addition, you will coordinate closely with internal teams, develop and monitor project plans and budgets, and manage key relationships with stakeholders such as Amprion and local authorities. As our German project portfolio continues to grow, this role offers the opportunity to develop alongside the projects, from early-stage development through to project execution and delivery.

We are ideally looking for a permanent addition to our team. However, given the urgency and strategic importance of these projects, we are also open to experienced interim professionals who can make an immediate impact.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead the Permitting Process: manage and coordinate the permitting activities for the two projects, ensuring progress is maintained and project milestones are achieved.

• Represent Giga Storage’s Interests: act as the primary representative of Giga Storage towards external development partners, authorities, landowners, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives.

• Drive Project Management and Stakeholder Coordination: develop and maintain project plans, budgets, risk assessments, and governance structures while coordinating internal and external stakeholders throughout the development process.

• Manage Key External Relationships: build and maintain strong relationships with grid operators, local authorities, landowners, consultants, and development partners to facilitate project progress and successful project outcomes.

What You Bring

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in project development or project management, preferably within large infrastructure, energy, or technical installation environments (or comparable complex project environments).

• Experience working with permitting processes, stakeholder management, regulatory environments, or multidisciplinary project teams.

• A Master’s degree in a technical or commercial discipline such as Engineering, Economics, Physics, Energy Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and substantial relevant professional experience are equally encouraged to apply.

• Experience gained within infrastructure projects, engineering consultancies, technical advisory firms, utilities, renewable energy companies, or comparable project-driven organisations is highly valued.

• Native German language skills and strong professional communication skills in English.

• Strong influencing and relationship-building capabilities, with the ability to align stakeholders who may have different interests and priorities.

• A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset combined with the ability to work independently and take ownership.

What we offer

• Performance Based Bonus Plan, based on company and individual performance, with a maximum of 10% to 20% of your gross annual (12 months) salary, depending on your seniority level.

• End-of-year bonus of 7% to 9%.

• Pension plan:

  • The Company will contribute 2.0% of your gross annual salary to an individual pension insurance policy.

  • After one year of employment, the contribution will increase to 3.0% of your gross annual salary.

  • This contribution is provided in addition to the statutory and payroll-based pension arrangements already applicable to your employment.

• Personal Development Budget of €750,- per year.
