Project Designer II

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for completion of drafting assignments utilizing the proper drawing formats, drafting standards, numbering conventions and design standards. Drawing assignments may include revising existing or generating new, detail, assembly or installation drawings of mechanical, structural or electrical aircraft component designs. Assignments may also include generating design layouts, checking drawings for standards compliance, facilitating drawing release and coordinating the change process.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

• Supports Engineering Project Team requirements by providing complete and accurate engineering data (drawings, parts lists and related supporting documents) using specifications, manufacturer instruction manuals, FAA regulations, Embraer approved procedures, acceptable industry practices, and customer expectations concurrent with established project timelines.
• Learns and efficiently utilizes the company's design and engineering data base of product design.
• Using drafting techniques and tools, creates drawings equipment installations and/or interior assemblies/ installations by developing and utilizing knowledge of the company's service, materials, products, and equipment capabilities and limitations.
• Works to continually improve and develop basic design and engineering skills.
• Develops and maintains knowledge of FAA regulations through research, OJT, company and FAA offered training workshops and classes, etc.
• Supports special projects and/or other duties as assigned by management.
• Ensure that work accomplished meets applicable customer specifications.
• May participate with engineering and design teams to produce arrangement and elevation drawings in support of customer specification and design approval.
• Ensure all work completed is in compliance with all current FAA regulations.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education:

• Associates Degree or equivalent in drafting, engineering or related field or equivalent experience required
• Some experience in Business and General Aviation aircraft modifications and/or related experience preferred.

Experience:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a specialized functional area.

• Must possess good written and oral presentation skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively to senior management.
  
• Effective time management and organizational skills; ability to become involved in a number of projects in a fast paced work environment.
  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Comprehension and understanding of broad practices associated within the field assigned. Applies these understandings in the completion of moderately complex work assignments.
• Customer focused with good relationship building skills
• Knowledge of executive aircraft and the executive aviation market with particular emphasis on Cabin and Interior
• Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft interior procurement, manufacturing, installation, certification
• Resolves problems that are of a clearly defined nature and easily identifiable as to the best method of resolution.
• Tasks to be performed are at the most basic level of professional individual contribution.

• Work assignments are generally reviewed regularly by higher level professional colleagues or manager on a regular and pre-determined basis.
• Exercises independent judgment in the interpretation of established policies and procedures developed by others.
• Proficient computer skills with use of Microsoft office applications.
• Proficient in CATIA is desired. Training will be provided if required.

• Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
• Availability for domestic and international travel
