Project Coordinator I

Reporting to a Director, or Manager, the Project Coordinator, Air Force Supply Chain Programs is responsible for supporting procurement operations, supply chain performance, material lifecycle management, DMSMS (Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages) initiatives, and risk mitigation activities across Air Force and Department of Defense programs.

This role serves as a key liaison between Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Contracts, and suppliers to ensure material availability, regulatory compliance, cost control, schedule adherence, and long-term product supportability. The Project Coordinator leverages procurement analytics, supplier management practices, and lifecycle planning methodologies to proactively identify risks and develop solutions that support mission readiness and operational success.

Procurement Management and Program Support

• Analyze procurement transactions, purchase requisitions (PRs), purchase orders (POs), and supplier performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Monitor open purchase requisitions and purchase orders to ensure timely processing, supplier responsiveness, and on-time delivery in coordination with the Purchasing Department.
• Support Air Force Program Managers with:
• Request for Quotation (RFQ) development
• Pricing and estimating activities
• Purchase requisition and purchase order processing
• Sole Source Justification (SSJ) documentation
• Approved Vendor List (AVL) and Trade Compliance Vendor List (TCVL) administration
• Track supplier lead times, material availability, and delivery schedules before and after purchase order award.
• Develop and maintain procurement reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support program decision-making and supply chain visibility.
• Participate in material planning activities through analysis of demand forecasts, inventory levels, supplier capacity, and procurement requirements.

DMSMS and Obsolescence Management

• Monitor component lifecycles and identify items approaching End-of-Life (EOL), End-of-Support (EOS), discontinuance, or diminishing manufacturing availability.
• Conduct DMSMS assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize program impacts.
• Evaluate Bills of Material (BOMs) to identify lifecycle risks, sourcing concerns, and supportability issues.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Program Management, and suppliers to identify acceptable replacement technologies and alternate sourcing solutions.
• Support lifecycle sustainment strategies including:
• Last-Time-Buy (LTB) planning
• Inventory assessments
• Lifecycle forecasting
• Long-range material support planning
• Maintain lifecycle management databases, obsolescence tracking tools, and risk mitigation records.
• Monitor industry, supplier, and technology trends that may affect product supportability or supply continuity.

Supplier Performance and Risk Management

• Develop and maintain productive supplier relationships to support operational requirements and customer commitments.
• Assist with supplier evaluations, sourcing initiatives, and supplier performance reviews.
• Analyze supplier performance metrics including:
• On-time delivery performance
• Lead-time compliance
• Quality performance
• Procurement cycle times
• Material shortages and recovery rates
• Identify supply chain risks and recommend corrective actions to mitigate cost, schedule, quality, and availability impacts.
• Communicate procurement risks and material constraints to program leadership and key stakeholders.
• Support contingency planning, alternate sourcing activities, and supplier diversification initiatives to strengthen supply chain resilience.

Data Analytics and Performance Reporting

• Develop and maintain procurement and supply chain performance metrics.
• Prepare and present data-driven analyses, forecasts, and recommendations for management review.
• Create reports related to:
• Material availability
• Procurement activity
• Supplier performance
• DMSMS risks
• Obsolescence trends
• Inventory and demand planning
• Utilize ERP, MRP, and business intelligence tools to improve procurement efficiency and decision making.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing supply chain visibility, procurement effectiveness, and program execution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Contracts, Program Management, and suppliers to resolve procurement and material-related issues.
• Participate in program reviews, supply chain reviews, integrated product team meetings, and procurement status meetings.
• Present lifecycle assessments, risk mitigation plans, and procurement recommendations to leadership.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, supporting documentation, and system data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
• HS or GED required

Experience:

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, sourcing, material planning, logistics, procurement analytics, or related disciplines.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel and supply chain reporting tools.
• Ability to analyze procurement, inventory, supplier, and operational performance data.

Preffered Experience

• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, government, electronics manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience with DMSMS, obsolescence management, and lifecycle planning.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP/MRP systems.
• Experience using Power BI, reporting platforms, and business intelligence tools.
• Experience working with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.

Technical Knowledge

• Working knowledge of:
• FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation)
• DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement)
• Government procurement processes
• Defense acquisition and logistics practices
• Understanding of lifecycle sustainment and supply chain risk management methodologies.

Security Clearance Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance as required by program and customer requirements.
• U.S. citizenship may be required in accordance with contractual obligations, export control regulations, and government security requirements.
• Must be able to successfully complete all required background investigations and security screenings.
• Ability to comply with all company, customer, and government security policies associated with controlled unclassified information (CUI), export-controlled information, and classified materials.
• Prior experience supporting classified, controlled-access, or secure government programs is preferred.
• Active Secret Security Clearance is highly desirable.
