Under the general direction of the First Responders- Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (FR-CARA) Program Manager, incumbent will provide coordination to the FR-CARA programs and work in collaboration with tribes, tribal programs, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA), state and urban programs. This includes coordinating activities, supporting training and service delivery, staying in regular contact with community anchors and partner organizations, and helping collect and report required data. Works closely with the Project Director to make sure activities are carried out as planned and follow grant requirements.
The incumbent will also provide assistance to the FR-CARA Program Manager in developing and submitting written reports regarding the status of the program.
Project coordination responsibilities include but are not limited to; program planning and development, decision making with concurrence from the program manager, fiscal planning and development and budget responsibilities, reporting program activities/progress to supervisor on a regular basis, and accepting responsibility for program performance and meeting goals and objectives.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Education:
Highschool diploma. Bachelor Degree preferred in a related field.
Minimum experience:
Two plus years of professional experience specific to the job they are being hired for or in a closely related field.
All applicants must be capable of demonstrating AI/AN cultural competency. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in business, community health, public health, social work, marketing, or related field with an emphasis in health promotion. Experience with tribal organizations and/or not-for-profit agency is desirable. Grant writing and funding experience desired.
Knowledge:
Must be able to identify, work and recruit buy-in from community. tribes, tribal organizations, Indian Health Service, federal and state agencies to coordinate and develop first responder activities and trainings. Must be able to develop and implement strategies from SAMHSA Strategic Priorities and other evidence-based practices to develop educational and skill development training pertaining to the First Responder initiatives and priorities. Coordinated and reports information to the FR-CARA Program Manager. Must be familiar with community and tribal customs/traditions or have working cultural knowledge of tribal nations within the states of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas.

What We Do
The Southern Plains Tribal Health Board is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Oklahoma City that serves 43 federally recognized tribes across Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. It works to improve American Indian public-health outcomes through partnerships, advocacy, education, training, epidemiology, data management, research, health promotion, and disease prevention. The organization also provides technical assistance and serves as a liaison on tribal health policy.
