Sol Systems is seeking a full-time Project Controls member who will analyze, evaluate, and create internal projections for contractor project schedules during a project’s construction phase. The role includes using scheduling knowledge to update, analyze, and advise project team members of the project spend forecasts.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Be Sol’s subject matter expert in scheduling.
  • Analyze contractor construction schedules, helping identify risks, changes in the critical path, and other changes during construction.
  • Work alongside Project Managers to identify and report risks to key milestones based on actual vs scheduled progress.
  • Generate schedule scenarios to support internal risk evaluation of contractor schedules, procurement changes, delays, etc.
  • Assist in developing the necessary processes, tools and systems to gather and analyze project data to help keep costs and schedules on track.
  • Assist in the creation of internal schedule hand-offs from the development phase to construction.
  • Partner with various departments to assess operational requirements, gather key insights through strategic questioning, and design scalable solutions that balance departmental priorities with overall business objectives.
  • Support budget management tasks during pre-construction and construction, updating spend forecasts based on schedule changes in the contractor or Owner Furnished Equipment contracts.
  • Support in the analysis of contractor's invoicing & EVM breakdown and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Assist in the standardization of budget reporting.
  • Provide regular reporting to project management team outlining risks in schedule/budget and recommending mitigation.
A successful candidate will possess the following competencies, skills and attributes:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent field.
  • At least three years working with a project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera and using Critical Path Method.
  • At least three years working to support budget management.
  • PMP Certification is ideal, but not necessary.
  • Experience building Power BI reports and dashboards is a plus.
  • Experience working in renewable project development or construction is a plus.

Location & Hours: This is a full-time hybrid role based in Sol’s Washington, DC headquarters. Expect to travel to site for major project meetings 2-3 times per year.

Commitment & Compensation: The base salary for this role is between $130,000 and $140,000 annually, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position.  In addition, Sol Systems provides health insurance, retirement benefits, partial fitness reimbursement, transportation benefits, education benefits, parental leave, paid vacation, sick and federal holidays, and the opportunity to work in a unique and dynamic environment.
