As a Project Controls Student, you will join the Turnaround Project Controls team, part of our larger Portfolio and Project Controls department. This team of seven, located at our East Saint John Refinery, plays a critical role in preparing turnaround cost estimates, forecasting tracking project performance against plans, evaluating contractor quotes, and assessing the impacts of changes.
As a student in this role, your focus will be on data management and gaining a deep understanding of the processes that drive cost estimating and forecasting. You will work closely with experienced professionals and gain practical experience in project controls and turnaround execution. You will explore the fundamentals of cost management and learn how data informs decision-making, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Support Power BI dashboard development and data visualization for project reporting
Assist with data management tasks using Microsoft Suite tools (Excel, SharePoint, etc.)
Contribute to process improvement initiatives by analyzing workflows and project data
Your Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other Microsoft Suite applications
Strong analytical and data management skills
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively
Interest in understanding cost management and forecasting of turnaround events
Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
Your Experience:
Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Business or a related field
Strong data integrity mindset
Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be returning to school
