We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Accountant to assist with the financial management of our construction projects. This position will work closely with project managers, accounting personnel, field supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure all project costs, billings, and financial records are accurate and kept up to date.

The ideal candidate must have experience in construction accounting, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience using Foundation Software is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintain accurate job-cost records for assigned construction projects

· Assist project managers to review project expenses, labor costs, purchase orders, subcontracts, and committed costs

· Prepare and process project billings, including progress billings, retainage, and change orders

· Assist with AIA billing documents and schedules of values

· Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and proper project coding

· Coordinate vendor and subcontractor payment processing and ensure all required documentation and approvals are received

· Track change orders and ensure approved changes are accurately reflected in project budgets

· Assist with accounts payable functions related to construction projects

· Manage project invoicing and accounts receivable, including timely billing and follow-up on outstanding payments

· Maintain subcontractor documentation, Releases of Lien, certificates of insurance, and other compliance records

· Prepare, track, and maintain Releases of Lien (ROLs) for subcontractors and vendors, ensuring all required documentation is received before payments are processed.

· Ensure all project-related financial activity follows company accounting procedures and is supported by proper documentation

· Assist with monthly closing procedures, work-in-progress reporting, and project reconciliations

· Maintain organized and accurate accounting documentation

· Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

  

Qualifications:

  • Previous accounting or project accounting experience within the construction industry
  • Knowledge of construction job costing, progress billing, retainage, change orders, and project budgets
  • Experience using Foundation Software is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting or project-management systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with project and accounting teams
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
