This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.
Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. This temporary position is located at 2020 Yonkers Road, Raleigh - Wake County, with Department of Adult Correction (DAC).
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $48.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.
Job duties and responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Developing lighting and lighting control solutions for interior lighting applications.
- Independently overseeing the design solutions, procurement and installation of lighting and lighting controls.
- Utility rate analyses and utility program management and oversight.
- Managing and growing our EV program and the development and management of a sustainable fleet program.
- Managing and growing our Green Lawn Care program.
- Improving heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system efficiency by developing appropriate training to ensure best efficiency operation and preventive maintenance (PM) practices are followed.
- Developing design guidelines for the above programs.
- Developing and implementing best policies, practices and processes through use of a continuous improvement model.
- Building and maintaining positive business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Keeping up to date with statutory /code changes and new technological developments.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
