General Definition:

The Program Seller obtains or receives racing products, totals bill, accepts payment, and makes change for customers by performing the following duties.

Essential Job Functions:       

  • Verifies inventory and cash bank prior to start of shift
  • Accurately completes sales transactions in accordance with company policies and procedures in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Follows financial responsibility procedures.
  • Greets customers upon entry to simulcast facility, grandstand, or any other designated area where customer’s entry or patronage is required in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Balances cash and inventory at the end of shift with the assistance of the Retail Sales Supervisor.
  • Approaches all encounters with guest and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
  • Dependability, good attendance, and occasional overtime required.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as scheduled.
  • Have the ability to accomplish a multitude of duties as assigned
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned by reporting senior.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires excellent communication skills, basic math and reasoning ability under extreme public scrutiny.
  • Strong cash handling experience required 
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform multiple tasks as assigned.
  • Excellent customer service and cash handling skills required.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English and to follow instructions as given.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Data entry skills a plus.

Training:

  • Six (6) month related experience and/or training; or combination.

Licenses/Certifications/Other

  • Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency if applicable to perform the essential job functions

  • Strength:
    • Sedentary to Medium workload
    • Stand, sit and walk consistently
    • Will be required to lift up to or over 20lbs or exert occasionally over 50lbs

    • Will consistently be required to touch, feel, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, reach
    • Will use office equipment
    • Driving motor vehicles as needed
  • Auditory:
    • Frequently speak and articulate
    • Noise levels will be varied from moderate to heavy machinery
  • Environmental:
    • Exposure to weather and extreme elements are minimal
    • Minimal exposure in close proximity to horses
    • Consistent exposure to spoke filled environment

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination
  • Strong cash-handling experience
