The Opportunity

Our Canada Program Optimization Team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business as we expand our responsibilities across the CG footprint. We are seeking a data driven Facility Reliability & Integrity (FRI) Program Optimization Engineer who participates with passion to manage critical partnerships, ensuring consistent program development, asset readiness and real-time insights. A natural leader, this individual will possess the knowledge and experience in acting as the key point of contact for internal customers in Operations and Operations Technical Support for TC Energy’s Canadian compression and measurement assets.

The Canada Program Optimization Engineer role is geographically responsible for leading the development and strategy of the Facility Reliability & Integrity Capital and Expense annual program development. The role is expected to serve as an expert in the organization’s Integrated Asset Investment Planning Framework. Leading a team of subject matter experts in a risk-based value framework to enable prioritization of work on the Canadian compression and measurement assets.

The successful candidate will have a strong partnership with Integrated Planning, Operations, Operations Technical Support, Projects and Commercial Operations that is leveraged to attain optimum operation of the Canadian compression and measurement assets. Proven skills to work both independently and collaboratively, with a keen focus on technical details, innovative thinking, process discipline, and problem solving. The position will virtually monitor and develop strategy to improve the overall operation and reliability and integrity of the facility assets.

What you’ll do

  • Lead Facility Reliability & Integrity Capital/Expense program development, including project risk scoring and prioritization, per geographical assigned regions
  • Evaluate alternatives and/or mitigation strategy and NPV analyses of alternatives, where required
  • Prioritize, manage, and progress work status in the FI Masterplan from proposal through to completion
  • Act as the key point of contact between FRI Program Management and key stakeholders
  • Lead communication of compression operational issues and facilitate recommendations to resolve for best-in-class fleet reliability
  • Lead compression and measurement cost avoidance transformation initiatives through data analytics
  • Champion new data driven initiatives to meet customer expectations
  • Present Facility Reliability & Integrity focused metrics and initiatives regularly to business partners and leadership
  • Plan the FR&I program to meet technical, regulatory, and commercial operations requirements
  • Demonstrate ability to initiate change and help others adapt to continuously changing work
  • Drive data quality improvement through input and suggest process improvements to the Facility Masterplan and budget development
  • Other Tasks as Required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline (Applicants without an Engineering degree, but who have significant experience, may be considered)

  • Must be registered, or eligible to be registered, as a professional engineer (P. Eng) with APEGA in good standing
  • Candidates with a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation or a P.Tech. (Eng.) designation with an appropriate scope of practice, with ASET, may be considered at a different level

  • Skills to effectively operate in a team-oriented environment, with a willingness to support team objectives
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and electronic communication skills; ability to work closely with field teams, management, third party resources, and coordinate work with other appropriate technical resources
  • Ability to recognize, recommend and implement new technology
  • Knowledgeable in facility operations and maintenance
