SUMMARY

The Engineering Program Manager will be responsible for driving the execution of program/projects towards the realization of customers' vision/requirements leveraging the resources of a matrixed engineering organization. Achieve performance excellence and increase customer satisfaction through coordinated emphasis on the delivery of quality, reliability, and effective engineering solutions. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and initiative to drive successful project outcomes in the medical and aviation security sectors.

As the Engineering Program Manager, you will:

  • Collaborate with Business Development, Sales, and Product Line to review requirements and define "end criteria" prior to program kickoff.
  • Support business development activities by providing cost estimates, tentative schedules, risk analysis and contract verbiage.
  • Identify resources for projects, defines and assigns major project roles.
  • Estimate, develop, define and execute project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables.
  • Balance budgets, schedules and resources to align with corporate priorities.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity to derive engineering requirements/solutions and drive multiple concurrent projects.
  • Execute programs in a matrixed organization collaborating with cross-functional leaders and teams focused on the development/customization of products from conception thru release and into sustainment.
  • Monitor the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with internal and external customers (foreign and domestic) to report status and respond to technical matters as needed.
  • Advise on the update of process and metrics to track and improve the accuracy of estimates, schedules and budgets.
  • Support the selection, development and evaluation of personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, or 8+ years of related experience, with 3 - 5 years of direct program/project management in a mixed software/hardware/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Work independently to overcome ambiguity and provide clear direction to team on requirements and schedule.
  • Exposure to multiple areas of business leadership and execution including engineering (mechanical, electrical, systems, software, information assurance), quality, program leadership, program management, supply chain management, and manufacturing required.
  • Ability to communicate across cultures with both internal and external customers with the capacity to earn the respect from peers, customers and senior staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP Certification
  • Agile software development certification (ScrumMaster [CSM], SAFe, AgilePM, PMI-ACP)
  • Veteran with extensive logistics and/or operations experience
