The Role
Who we are About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Frontier is an advance market commitment to buy $1B+ of permanent carbon removal by 2030. Frontier aims to send a strong demand signal to researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors that there is a growing market for their technologies. Frontier was founded by Stripe, Alphabet, Shopify, Meta and McKinsey, and operates as a subsidiary of Stripe.

To avoid the worst effects of climate change, most climate models agree the world will need ~6 billion tons of carbon removal a year by 2050. If successful, we’ll increase the likelihood that the world has the portfolio of solutions needed to reach these climate goals. Read more about our approach here.

What you’ll do

As Program Manager for Frontier, you’ll be responsible for leading our purchasing operations and managing Frontier’s portfolio of carbon removal companies. You’ll partner with a wide range of stakeholders both within and outside of Stripe – scientists, carbon removal companies, internal operations teams, etc. – to ensure Frontier can successfully purchase new carbon removal and manage a rapidly-growing program. This role requires someone with experience collaborating across disciplines, a keen eye for driving process and program improvements, and the ability to thoughtfully manage a wide range of programs in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support our team of diligence experts and scientists by managing purchasing operations end-to-end: source promising carbon removal companies, manage Frontier’s reviewer network and technology assessment process, oversee contracting and invoicing, and track portfolio progress against milestones and deliveries
  • Analyze portfolio performance and translate insights into ideas to solve field challenges, accelerate the 40+ companies within Frontier’s portfolio, and improve Frontier’s purchasing programs
  • Represent Frontier’s purchasing process and strategy externally
  • Measure and report Stripe’s emissions and manage reduction initiatives to meet internal net zero goals and regulatory requirements
Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • BA or BS degree
  • You have 2+ years of experience in consulting, finance, program management or business operations
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills and can clearly communicate what you need across different technical and business audiences to get things done
  • You have strong quantitative skills, familiarity running surveys and analyzing program performance, and an ability to translate data into program insights
Preferred qualifications
  • You’re an exceptionally fast learner and have an interest in climate. You enjoy (and have experience) quickly ramping on new topics
  • You are a self-starter, and have a proven track record of doing whatever it takes to execute on complex projects
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, and obsessed with operational efficiency, and can prioritize effectively across many workstreams
