POSITION SUMMARY:

Person in this position will be responsible for providing the clinical and administrative programmatic leadership and oversight for the SSG Fox program and training needs. Responsible for the coordination of client care by collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to provide and facilitate services. Essential Job Functions include those listed below. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership and supervision to the SSG Fox program. 
  • Conduct all VETcare Prevents services within the Zero Suicide framework.
  • Function as a liaison to the Deputy Administrator(s) and external groups and agencies in promoting inter-organizational collaboration including attending Board and Advisory Board meetings as required. 
  • Assist in grant planning and initiation of potential funding opportunities when required. 
  • Participate in design and implementation of research, such as program evaluation and outcome studies. 
  • Arrange for staff development, education, and training activities. 
  • Research effective training opportunities and disseminate information to CBP of training opportunities throughout their region. 
  • Participate in design and implementation of monthly training on specific topics 
  • Responsible for annual training calendar, including information dissemination coordination. 
  • Implement Quality Assurance and Utilization Review systems that monitor the effectiveness of the treatment system.   
  • Assist in the development of program fiscal and budgetary tracking systems and implementation as well as providing the oversight and management of operating budget and program fiscal expenditures. 
  • Monitor compliance with all required standards, regulations, state, and federal guidelines. 
  • Develop, implement, and monitor procedures to meet agency policies and contract management including the preparation of comprehensive reports for funding or agency sources. 
  • Perform the duties of any Counselor when needed, to include but not limited to individual and group counseling, case management, and required documentation. Conduct community outreach and engagement activities to identify and connect with at-risk veterans and service members.
  • Assist individuals in navigating mental health and substance use services, housing resources, crisis intervention, and other support systems.
  • Collaborate with local VA facilities, community providers, and the broader support network to coordinate services and referrals.
  • Participate in suicide prevention trainings and maintain knowledge of best practices related to peer support and veteran care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all interactions and services provided, in compliance with grant requirements and confidentiality standards.
  • Support follow-up efforts with program participants to ensure continued engagement and service connection.
  • Promote protective factors such as connectedness, resilience, and purpose among participants.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, supervision, and relevant community events.
  • Must embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Experience and Competencies:

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. 
  • Ability to operate a computer and complete documents in Microsoft Word program formats or the ability to learn.   
  • Ability to respond as needed to crisis situations in an efficient manner. 
  • Ability to work well in a team environment. 
  • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality. 
  • Professional appearance and demeanor. 
  • Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served. 
  • Military/Veteran is required.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a criminal background clearance 
  • During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.
  • Suicide prevention or crisis intervention experience, Trauma-informed care practices; Ability to work with Veterans or high-risk populations
  •  Knowledge of community and/or VA resources.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Two (2) years supervisory, management experience, preferably in suicide prevention services.
  • Four (4) years’ experience working with Veterans and their families and/or military culture, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, Social Worker, Human Services, or related field is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required 

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test. 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required

Skills Required

  • Military or veteran status
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a criminal background clearance

  • Trauma-informed care experience or practices
  • Ability to work with veterans or high-risk populations
